Maths/Physics LENS: A convex lens is circular in shape?

This is a spherical cap. Its volume is

V = h^2*pi/3*(3r-h) where r = radius of the flat side of the cap, and h = height of the cap)

The height of the cap = 2 - √(2^2-r^2)

V = (2 - √(4-r^2))^2*pi/3 * (3r - 2 + √(4 - r^2)

we have 2 radii, the radius of the flat side of the lens is r, the radius of the spherical side is 2''.

but r can be any size.

Its volume is half of total volume of a sphere of given radius, i.e., (2*Pi*r^3)/3. Now put r=2 unit and simplify to get the answer.
