Can I be sued for providing a bad service?

I work full time, and I have a company with a £1000 capital, it is only a name really and I use it when I do additional jobs so I am paid through my agency.

I was looking for a teaching job in the evening, an employment agency contacted me and I was offered an evening job, a 3 month contract. I never signed the contract.

I started the job; all was well (it is a private school newly set up). The students started to complaint about lack of material and facilities.

I sent a letter to the director of the school telling him about my concerns and how things could be improved.

The guy never replied.

One evening the director had a meeting with the students prior to the class then was present during the class. At the end of the class I was dismissed with no justification.(in the contract it says 28 days notice)

Following that students who complained and wanted their money back, were also dismissed. My husband was never paid.

Now he received a letter form the court, the guy is suing him, the company and the second teacher.

He wants money because for 3 months he had no teachers, (after he sacked them and found new teachers) so he wants money for the rent, the stress he had, for the 3 months he lost earnings. Also he claimed that my husband will not be paid until he passed some certifications (nothing in the contract about that).

Also he blames me additional costs because one evening I finished the class 1 hour later, and the director agreed, so he is claiming for the 1 hour rent.

He more or less says in his claim that he blames the main employment agency but the 2 teachers are also defendants

Basically he claims for lots of things and it is crazy. So now I have to take a solicitor but will I have to pay?

The agency employed me not the school and checked my references. Any advice would be helpful

    Contact a Citizens Advise / a solicitor asap ..

Essentially you will need to dispute his claim point by point and enter a counter-claim for wages & notice money due etc. You may be best advised to contact your fellow defendants and co-ordinate your defense / counter claims (paying 3 lots of separate Solicitors fees to defend against one claim seems rather a waste of money) ...

WARNING - you (or your solicitor) MUST inform the Court that you intend to dispute his claim (and then lodge your defense & counter claim documents within the time period allowed), otherwise Judgment will be AUTOMATICALLY entered against you .... unscrupulous / incompetent Solicitors have been known to allow this to happen since you then have to pay the Solicitor £££££'s to appeal against the judgment ...

Yes, you will have to pay a solicitor to deal with this for you.

You go from not being paid yourself to your husband not being paid and other bits and pieces that add up as a muddle. So it will depend how far the person who you term as crazy will dig the dirt as such

Hopefully your 'paper company' has liability insurance as well as it's ability to make sure you pay less tax.
