Have you ever heard of "Stuttgart 21"?

Yes I've heard of it. I've been watching it's development for about six months now and I find that the Germans are really peeved at the government for destroying the historic part of their city to advance in the European transit as a focal point of travel.

The train station should remain as far as I'm concerned but I'm a foreigner to Germany so my opinions really don't count. However ... the opinions of the city's electorate does. In the last election the ruling politicians of the city were ousted and the "Greens" got into power. That shook up the establishment. First time they've taken a large city politically and it's all because of the protests and the electorates anger.

The last I heard was in September; there was a big mess with the police and water canons, pepper sprays and brute force was used on the protesters.

I haven't heard anything recently about what is going on there.

But the city seems determined to build the underground rail system regardless of whether the old train station and tracks are demolished.
