Do you like Bill Maher? If so, why?

Politics aside, I don't see how anybody could like this guy considering how he loves to talk down to so many people. He has to be the smuggest holier than thou person in America, and I don't know how even Liberals can stand him unless they also think they are among the smartest 1%.

BQ- Why is he famous? I hope its not for being funny or political insight because he's not very good at either.

Update:

Fux u Muhammed- Good one

Update 2:

itsamini- That seems to be his niche. He did the same on the George Lopez show and Bill O'Reilly show.

Update 3:

Mr Smartypants- I respect your opinion, but are wrong about O'Reilly who has often had positive things to say about Obama criticizes Conservatives like last night when he disagreed with some of the actions of the Rand Paul supporters. When has Keith Olbermann ever criticized Libs for anything?

Update 4:

Tyler- somehow you get the impression I don't like the truth. It seems like you are in the false generalization business as well.

Update 5:

Susan....he is far resptful

Update 6:

Make that respectful

We always tend to think this way about people we disagree with. I think Bill O'Reilly is so negative and grumpy all the time that I don't see how anyone could listen to him for more than 2 minutes. But he has huge ratings, just because some people WANT to hear an angry voice denouncing 'liberals'.

I like Maher's program. I agree it's biased towards the liberal side of the argument, but at least he doesn't make ludicrous claims of being 'fair and balanced'. Like Fox, he knows who his audience is and he gives them what he wants. I agree he's not unbiased but I think he's a lot more fair than people like O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, etc.

If you listen with an open mind, you notice something about liberal media vs conservative media. Conservative media--Fox News, and right-wing talk radio--BELONGS to the Republican Party. You never hear these guys criticize the GOP in any real way. The GOP funds them and tells them what their opinions are. But liberal media (Maher, left-wing talk radio, etc.) criticize both parties alike. They certainly take the Democrats to task when they abandon their liberal principles.

Maher always (well, usually) has a conservative on his panel. Usually it's a very articulate conservative, a good spokesman for the conservative view (unlike liberals on Fox News). And they let him talk, they don't constantly talk over him or tell him to shut up, like they do on Fox. Like NPR, they do go to some trouble to present a range of views.

Plus I think Maher's show is just funny!

i'm undecided the two of those 2 could make a sturdy president. Neither could have universal help or intense approval scores, no remember what they did. maximum conservatives who dislike Maher now could proceed to dislike him as president. purely like the liberals who dislike O'Reilly now does in comparison to him as president. we live in a rustic now with a president whose approval scores are interior the 30s, and that i do no longer think of our next president might desire to be an identical way. I understand this is a thoroughly hypothetical question, yet i'm nevertheless purely offering my opinion.

No, I do not like Bill Maher. The more this guy Maher speaks, the better for liberty-loving, constitutionalist Americans. So, go ahead, statists, keep giving Maher a microphone and stage.

It is interesting--but not surprising--that such a snide, bitter, America-hating comedian has become almost synonymous with progressivism. o_O

I despise the ugly, hateful cretin. He believes he's so smart, but he makes bad errors by the dozens. I first recall hearing about him when he said Californians were wrong to pass a proposition to not give any state funds to illegal aliens. He sounds like a Biblical prophet telling us what's "Right" and "Wrong", like Moses giving his people the Ten Commandments, one of which is "Thou shat not deny funds to illegal aliens". One of my contacts is a bright young Japanese girl, and she said Maher told awful lies about her people. He's pitifully ignorant and makes these wrong "pronouncements" as if he's a holy prophet. Someone told me about seeing him on a talk show complaining about not having a girlfriend. Soon, he was selling a book he'd written about picking up women. How can someone write such a book when he can't even get a girlfriend? Does anyone see any inconsistency in that? The leftist won't. He's just pathetic. I see ever more evidence of that constantly.

i like him. he's not really that amusing, but he had the balls to say that hijacking an airplane and flying it into a building isn't an act of cowardice (which was a common line on the news about 9 years ago), and that was enough to make the bush white house tell people that they need to be careful what they say because they were being watched, and that didn't go over well so the bush white house erased the whole thing from their official record of what was being said, which showed very publicly that they were rewriting history to make themselves look better...

anyway, i got nothing against him at all.

He is an idiot. If I had the chance, I would bet my life that I could kick his **** in a debate. He is a far left-wing moron.

But, he does say some funny things sometimes when he actually plays the role of comedian.

I think he's hilarious because he does talk down to other people. He shows people who think they know everything that they really don't. Liberals probably like Maher for the same reason conservatives like Limbaugh.

BQ - Maher is famous for the same reasons that Limbaugh is.

I use to, until I got tired of being insulted by his broad generalizations. I decided this the night I saw him on Larry King talking about how dumb Americans are and they need to be told what to do.

He's an arrogant bastard who wears too much makeup and has a dumb looking face. Dennis Miller or Ben Stein could run circles around him, intellectually.

He is terrible. Liberal blow hard. He makes Jon Stewart look like a insightful non bias guy and Jon Stewart is a Democrat lap dog that has just enough sense to tie his shoe. It kills me that liberals take their media marching orders from comedians, ironic really, they say stupid funny things and that is what most liberals say, irony at its utmost.
