For some reason, every YouTube vid I've watched in a few days has had no comment section, no ability to leave a comment. What's the deal?

I installed a hot-swapping SATA dock. It just plugs into a SATA port and power, and you slide a SATA drive into it. Supposedly you can do hot-swapping with AHCI in Windows 10.
The problem is, when I take a drive out, Windows doesn't know that drive is not still there. It doesn't recognize the new drive. How can I make Windows look at the SATA port and learn there's a new drive there?

6 AntwortenSecurityvor 6 Jahren'Marijuana Tourism' in Oregon?
Years ago I went to buy a bottle of rum at a govt.liquor store in Oregon. I had to show my driver's license and since it was out-of-state, I was questioned for about 10 minutes. How long are you staying in Oregon? Do you know anyone here in town? Do you have business here? etc.
Now I'm wondering how easy it is for an out-of-stater to buy pot in Oregon. Has anyone from California gone up there to buy some and bring it home? There must be some protections in force against that, but how would they stop you? Would they just refuse to sell it to anyone from out of state? Anyone have any direct experience?
4 AntwortenLaw & Ethicsvor 6 JahrenAnyone see the article about Rand Paul's plan to 'blow up the tax code'?
It's on Yahoo News now.
http://news.yahoo.com/presidential-candidate-rand-...
He's going to give EVERYONE a tax cut, like Reagan and both Bushes promised (but never did). TRILLIONS of dollars in tax cuts. AND he's going to balance the budget even with lower taxes. With budget cuts that he can't specify--like Reagan, the Bushes and John McCain and Mitt Romney and even the famous Paul Ryan budget of 2012--tax cuts now, budget cuts later when we decide what they'll be.
Do Republicans never get wise to this perennially broken promise? Hasn't the GOP learned ANYTHING since the 80s?

There used to be a program called Dir2Text, which you could just point it to a folder or a whole disk, and it would traverse the directory and print it to a textfile, with subfolders indented and everything. Now I need it and can't find it. Anyone know where to find it? Or is there something better these days? TIA

I used to use Daemon Tools Lite but these days I hear it's full of malware. Friends tell me they've had all kinds of trouble with it.
All the other program that do this cost $29.95 (like they all got together to fix prices!) Anyone know a good free program that does this these days?

13 AntwortenOther - Food & Drinkvor 7 JahrenRepublicans, should Cochran's nomination be nullified?
This is interesting (to me anyway). An article on Yahoo News says that the Tea Party in Mississippi is trying to get the primary election results nullified. Their argument is not the usual Tea Party argument ("What WE want is what should happen. If people vote otherwise, their votes shouldn't count"), it's actually a much better argument--that the Republican candidate should be chosen by REPUBLICAN voters! And because of the open run-off where anyone could vote, Cochran didn't get the majority of -Republican- votes!
http://dailycaller.com/2014/06/30/tea-party-leader...
And though I don't agree with the Tea Party much, I think they have a major point here! Political parties have the right to choose their OWN candidate!
What do you think?

What software do you use to mount an ISO as a virtual drive in Win7? I used to use Daemon Tools but now when I download it, it comes with a lot of other crap I don't want. I click on 'decline' for all this stuff, but when Daemon Tools begins to install it's like 1.3 gigabytes, so I know that stuff is still in there.
So what other programs can I use? What do you use and how do you like it?
2 AntwortenSoftwarevor 7 Jahren"No Site Configured at This Address"?
Every so often I start up Firefox and instead of loading Yahoo (my start page) it says 'No site configured at this address'. Yahoo is still there, like if i enter news.yahoo.com or answers.yahoo.com, etc. But Yahoo itself is not available. This goes on for a few days and then Yahoo is back.
This started yesterday. Today I find Craigslist is also 'No site configured at this address'.
What causes this? How can I fix it?
2 AntwortenComputer Networkingvor 8 JahrenMotorcycle that's been sitting for a while?
My Honda ST1100 has been sitting for a year. (1100cc, water cooled, V4).
I want to get it back on the road. It will need a new battery. But I'm worried about running the engine after it's been sitting so long. Should I put a little oil in each cylinder? Should I run the engine without the sparkplugs connected for a while to get oil circulated through the engine? Or should I just start it up and see if it runs? What do you think?
13 AntwortenMotorcyclesvor 8 JahrenQuestion for Cruiser Riders?
I'm in the market for a new bike. These days I tend to like long rides, several hundred miles a day, plus I'm thinking about some long cross-country trips. So I thought I'd look at big cruisers--Honda VTX, Kawasaki Nomad, Yamaha Road Star, etc. (Not Harley. Too expensive.)
Well there are any number of these big metric cruisers on Craigslist, but what strikes me is that most of them have 10k miles or less, often less than 1000 miles per year.
There are big BMW tourers too, for not much more than a big metric cruiser, but these always have 60-70,000 miles, some of them over 100,000 miles! Likewise big 'standards' like Yamaha FJR, etc. Everything that's not a cruiser has lots of miles.
So why is it that someone would spend $10-12k for a big cruiser, and usually another $3000-4000 on accessories and chrome bits, and then just leave it in the garage for years and years? It actually worries me a little that people buy these bikes and then don't ride them! Why is that?
BQ Do you have a big metric cruiser? What is it and how do you like it?

3 AntwortenSan Franciscovor 9 Jahren700c Tube Recommendations?
I have a hybrid bike with 700c x 35mm tires. I want to buy an extra tube to carry along on rides in case of a flat, but when I look online all I see are 700 x 23, 700 x 25, hardly ever 700 x 35. Will a 25mm wide tube blow up to fit a 35mm tire?
Also I see ads for Michelin 'Airstop' tubes with Presta valves that aren't threaded on the outside, which makes them easier to fill. That sounds like a good idea to me! Do they make these in 700x35c? I haven't found any anywhere, except some ads have no width on them at all, just 700c. Does that mean 'one size fits all'? I'm confused.
Thanks in advance.
7 AntwortenCyclingvor 9 JahrenHow to Kill Apps in Android?
I hoped someone would know this. I just got an Android Phone (LG Optimus) which is quickly becoming my favorite toy. I love Pandora, the Internet music streaming service. But when I run it, I find there's no way to turn it off! I can go 'home' and run another app, make a phone call, use the web browser, or whatever, but Pandora remains on, and playing, in the background. There's no 'Off' button, or even a 'Help' button.
I have the same problem with MP3 playing apps. One music app will replace another, but they all just play and play.
I know there's some really simple, obvious answer to this and I'll feel stupid when I find out. So here's your chance to make me feel stupid! 8^) Anyone know what to do?

I want to move to Virgin Mobile. The price seems too low to be good. Do you have serious complaints?
Also, do they have an 'answering machine', so if you don't pick up the person can leave a message? I'm assuming every cellphone company has that, but I don't see a single word about it in their website.
Thanks!
2 AntwortenCell Phones & Plansvor 1 JahrzehntProblem Upgrading Windows XP?
Just to see if anyone knows about this. I recently got a really good deal on an SSD (Solid State Disk). Patrick Norton said you shouldn't just 'clone' your hard drive to an SSD, you should re-install Windows from scratch, because it will install differently.
So I re-installed Win XD (4 year old Dell, Pentium IV). It worked fine, and the computer does seem a lot faster. But when I went to the Microsoft website to download upgrades, I find Service Pack 2 won't install. It downloads, then says there's not enough space on the disk. But the disk is freshly partitioned and formatted, a 60 gb disk with >55 gb left on it.
Anyone have any idea what the problem could be? Microsoft, of course, no longer supports XP (but I like it!)
Extra credit question: Think my old computer would work any better with Win 7?
