Is there a way to convert USB to 1/4" cable? (usb to 1/4" adapter) **important details below**?
IMPORTANT: I need to change a MALE END USB into MALE END 1/4" JACK. in other words, an adapter WITH male usb and male 1/4" on each end (respectively) is completely useless in this sitch. I can't plug male USB into male USB. So please stop suggesting that. Man created perfectly heterosexual electronics, so there is no room for hardware homosexuality. it just isnt possible...
I use a usb condenser mic (Samson C01U) and a usb midi audio interface (fast track pro) to record my own music @ home. What I want to do is run the USB mic through the MIDI, but the MIDI only has 1/4" jack input (guitar/amp cable size) and s/pdif input. I was wondering if some form of hardware exists (adapter/converter) that has one end female usb and one end female 1/4" jack. Basically, I need to turn the male USB plug on the mic into male 1/4" jack. (or mayb even into s/pdif)
Also, if there is any other way of running my usb mic through my usb MIDI, please inform me : )
Any help is much appreciated. thank you in advance!!
Ah! good thinking. y didn't I think of that? I know I have the output on my soundcard. I'm not sure about the s/pdif, but I'll check when I get home tomorrow. I have a sound blaster audigy soundcard. My mic only records in mono, so it will probably play through the speakers (or speaker rather lol) in mono. which is fine by me. I'm hoping running through my MIDI will eliminate the feedback as well. It's not unbearable, just a faint hiss and crackle, but I want to get as clear as possible. Thank you!

All you need is an adapter to patch an 1/8" stereo miniplug cable, into the 1/4" instrument input on the MIDI interface.
You may already own an 1/8" to 1/4" adapter. They are often included with headphones that use an 1/8" stereo miniplug.
So, try it this way: the USB microphone stays hooked up the usual way, but then you patch the line output (blue port) on your sound card, back out, to the 1/4" input on your MIDI, and then enable that output (and adjust levels) inside the Windows mixer. (Go to volume control panel -->options -->properties.)
I'm guessing the 1/4" inputs on the MIDI adapter are mono. The only weird thing that may happen if you bridge an analog output, is the sound card may play in mono, until you disconnect it. (You may notice the sound only comes out one speaker, but that would be normal --sort of.)
All you can do is hook it up, and see how it works.
(Does your current computer sound chip also have an s/pdif output? That would probably work better.)
