Beatles vs. Justin Bieber?

Now, this is not a troll question to enrage people. I have an important question to ask.

I think we all agree that taste is subjective, ie, depends on person to person. musical taste is no different.

So, why is it if someone says he/she (not me) like Justin Bieber (or, any other contemporary commercial artist) more that the beatles (or any other legends of music), they are sure to be insulted, booed and ostracised. You can go on any music video made by- generally-regarded-as-'great'-artists, you will find someone saying they like lil wayne or bieber more. Now, he may be doing this for trolling, but you can see that almost everybody commenting spews out brilliant amounts of hatred towards the person, basically telling he/she is very wrong.

Now, is this so? can one be right or wrong about their taste in music?

Update:

@ali.ara

What would those levels be?

And, no music doesn't have to involve being able to play an instrument, sing or write lyrics. Music can be made solely with the help of computers. Some very good electronic music is the result of software mixing alone.

Update 2:

And, just so you know, bieber and other contemporaries, no matter how much you dislike them can play instruments, sing and write music, although not very well in either case, but thats another issue.

I shall try to answer this with no emotion involved......

I guess first you have to define what "music" really is. To me, it is an art. Art is something that comes from the soul and touches people's lives. If Lil' Wayne represents you as a person, then sure, he is better than the Beatles to that person. My issue with Beiber is that when you don't write any of your own lyrics or music, how can that be from the soul? It would be like some dude drawing a sketch and painting it in, then Picasso painted the exact same thing but put his name on it cause he looked prettier, and therefore would sell that painting better. Now what kind of world would that be? Apparently the kind of world we live in now. If you are going to listen to pop, go buy some Incubus....please!! I also don't think that computer's are instruments or valid forms of music.....most of the time..... but that is solely opinion.

Tell you what blunt sword, when Justin Bieber comes up with an album as epic as Sgt.Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band or when he makes albums that are studied in academic circles or has the lyrics of his songs studied in academic circles, you come and find me ok?

In fact I'll give a couple of examples of Beatles songs and albums that were academically studied:

1.At one point John's old grammar school was actually studying the lyrics of Beatles songs(something that amused Lennon to no end and helped to inspire I Am The Walrus)

2.There was once an entire college class devoted to the study of the Sgt.Pepper album

Now to all you overly obsessed Bieber fans:put this in your pipe and smoke it!

I read last week that Beiber considers himself his generation's Kurt Cobain. A bit of me died that day... Now someone is comparing him to the Beatles? Are you f@ckin' kidding me? I don't get your argument cause I don't like comparing anyone to anyone... Esp. McCartney and Lennon's talent-who wrote, composed and played their own tunes and where all about sex, drug, rock n roll. Beiber is just another cookie cut out-one of those pre teens to make the little girls feel their first surge of sexuality and they gobble up his albums to make the record industry feel like it is making a come back. The Beatles and Nirvana can't even do that anymore...

McCartney, Lennon and Cobain could pass wind and make music. Please never compare talent with processed crap. Those who like Justin Bieber are young-and what was it that was said years ago... "Youth is waisted on the young"... And would what Bill Hicks have to say about Bieber? I think he would say, "When did mediocrity and banality become a good image for your children?"... As he did years ago when comparing New Kids on the Block to good music.

I guess what I'm saying is that Beiber represents (for me) all that is f@cked up w/ music today. And it began to change years ago... Clean, safe music. (once again I hear Bill Hicks ghost yelling his famous rant, "Play from the f@cking HEART!"... check it out-its a laugh! Youtube it my friend) No more rebellion or counter culture thought (which the web has killed)... Just Beiber, Lady GaGa, Nickleback, Ke$ha... I can understand how youth can see these artists as 'amazing' and may think they are musicians-but they arn't. They are entertainers. They don't have a 'musical' bone in their bodies. And Nickleback should be beaten and raped by a pack of vicious stray hell hounds. God I hate that band...

Wow. I went wayyyyy off topic. I think I'm done now... Thanks for the question and sorry for that rant... cheers

I believe pleasing Tuba. Bieber isn't hurting anybody, and are available on, no one will bear in mind him in some years time while his voice has broken and he's purely too bushy for the little women's likings. heavily although, i think of that The Beatles are far extra ingenious than The Rolling Stones. i admire the two, however the Beatles's songs are plenty extra constructive, in my very very own opinion.

You know what? All popular music is utterly ridiculous. If you actually read the lyrics, it's always crap; they just try to ryhme words. The words of songs should be just as good as the words in a book, but the people who write songs are idiots. Statistics show that most of them are extraverts, as opposed to every other field of art. How can you respect the music industry? And why should attractive people have more of a right to have their work become famous?

I asked Chuck Norris VS Justin Bieber on Polls and Surveys and got reported, some people are butthurt, I mean relax it's not a terrorist question.

But it's beatles, Bieber's music is stale, all his songs are about love or girls, he needs some new ideas.

  • vor 1 Jahrzehnt

Beatles wrote and composed their own songs, no one did anything for them except recording the music.

Justin Beiber was found because of his "voice"! I would respect Beiber more if he started to call him self a tenor, more than some musicians.

These disney kids destroyed Pop/Rock harshly... they made it look like complete sh!t

Just keep in mind that the Beatles disappeared 40 years ago, and people still listen to them. Justin Beiber won't survive another year... Remember the Jonas Brothers? where are they now?

It's always hard to gauge the "true" merits of a current star in the midst of all the hype. Only time will tell if Bieber is just another David Cassidy. If you said "who's that?" you made my point.

I hate to say it, but Justin Bieber is just The Beatles of today, loved by many teenage girls, and thought to be gay by guys, BUT JUST TO SAY IT I LOVE THE BEATLES!!!!!!
