What would be an average weight /height for a 9 month old baby girl?
My granddaughter is tiny. She is now 9 months old and only ways about 14 lbs... She is still in size 3 months old clothing... My gut is telling me... Something, i am not sure. it this normal..How do I bring this subject up without worrying.....mom? Advise is welcome...Opinions..
usually by 9 months they can grasp a toy fully without akwardness, but she has a hard time but still manages to get it in her mouth...
Or tummy time...forget it- some babies dont like their tummy...she still hates it and can barely hold her head,, she just started sitting on her own but needs the baby u pillow - she does have a tendancy to fall back. I know that all babies develop differently....she also cant hold her own bottle up so her milestones are a little behind...

If she is eating well, meeting her milestones and is generally a happy baby its probably not an issue and shes just a tiny little thing. My friend has a 15 month old who is 17lbs 12oz...thats 6 months on your granddaughter and only less then 4lbs heavier and she is perfectly healthy and fine. Just a tiny baby. If it was an issue the doctor would likely address it. No need to bring up the subject.
edit: My daughter is 11 months...still wont really hold her own bottle. My friends daughter was 9 months old before she could even roll over or start trying to sit up...shes now a perfectly healthy 7 year old. If the doctor thought this was an issue it would likely be addressed. bringing it up will probably only upset her mother and worry her. Leave it be.

She does seem tiny, and it smaller than the average nine month old baby, but this doesn't mean she is in danger. Have you asked her what the doctor says about her at her regular check ups? That's what I would do. Just ask "How are baby's regular doctor visits going?" "What do they say about her weight and height?" That seems like a perfectly reasonable question to ask. If there was something wrong I am sure the mother would know. Sometimes babies are just very small, and sometimes babies are very large just like all adults vary in size.

Well obviously it isn't 'normal' for a 9 month old to be in 3 month clothing.... If her doctor hasnt' diagnosed 'failure to thrive' then everything is probably fine. Babies come in all shapes and sizes... It doesn't mean there is anything seriously wrong with her, it just means she is smaller than the 'average' 9 month old.
I think the best answer here is to see the baby's pediatrician if you are concerned about her weight.
