What do companies do with official transcripts?

Do they just make a copy and hand them back to you or what? they are 8 bucks a piece and I could use it again if they just make a copy. A personal experience would be greatly appreciated

    They KEEP them in your file. In many cases, they won't even allow YOU to give then the transcript. they require you to have it sent directly to them. The whole point of an OFFICIAL transcript is to ensure YOU can't alter it.

    They keep them in your personnel file.
