"Good night" milks and follow on formula?
I was just thinking about this, I understand that putting cereal into a bottle is a big no no, but have seen a couple of brands in the UK do a "good night" milk, which is basically a ready made mix of a follow on (6 month plus) formula powder and cereal - How is this any different from doing this yourself? Is it just a ploy to get more money from us - It's really expensive almost double the price of regular formula)
(Just to add before I get a bashing, I do not put cereal in my daughter bottle, she is a good sleeper so I don't want to use the milk, just curious)
Follow on (6 months plus) formulas, are they necessary? How are they different from infant first formulas?
I moved my daughter on to a follow on formula when she turned 6 months, but she didn't like it and screamed whenever I tried to feed her, she is back on to her infant milk, but at 7 months is this ok? should I try a different brand of follow on milk?
Oh don't want to offend anyone, I do understand that cereal is added in some exceptional medical cases - I meant its a no no for those mums that are just trying to get their LO sleeping longer.

Usually the starter formula's don't contain iron and the later ones do. Read the label and compare. The good night milk plays on the myth that solids help a baby sleep through the night. This is not true.
If her current formula doesn't contain iron I would transition her to the new stuff by mixing part of her current and part of the new stuff and gradually increasing until she's used to the new stuff.

There is nothing wrontg with you daughter being on infant formula at her age, it is designed to feed a baby from birth to 12 months and longer if the parent desires.
I did add rice cereal to my daughters milk and introduces solids early as my daughter had severe reflux and was loosing weight on formula alone, this was done under strict medical observation and my daughter spent three weeks in hospital during the first weeks of giving the cereal in the bottle and early introduction of solids.
She bever had a follow on milk as the only difference between that and her infant milk was that the follow on had iron added to it and was designed to stay in the gut longer making a baby want less feedings

You need to keep your baby on the infant formula & then switch to whole cow's milk at 12 months of age. The "Good Night" milk & all of those gimmicks are just to get you to buy the expensive stuff when your baby does not need it. Follow your baby's Pediatricians advice!!

idk how you think that cereal in the bottle is a nono but i know plenty of parents that are doing it because a doctor told them to no sense in spending more or making anything harder for yourself if you dont have to
