is the force between magnets more or less when they are closer to each other?

the force of attraction between the magnet increases as the magnet get's closer to other.

The force between two magnets increases when the distance between them decreases. This is true for when they are opposite polarity, attracting, or the same polarity, repulsing. The torque on the two magnets also increases as the two magnets approach one another, should the poles not be aligned; ie. If the north of one magnet was pointed towards the center, half way between the north and south, of the other magnet then both magnets would apply more force to have the north of magnet one turn towards the south of magnet two and vice verse. I do not have my physics book with me or I would have quoted an equation based on Gauss of the magnet vs distance.
