WHAT LEGAL RIGHTS DO ABSENT PARENTS HAVE?
MY SON'S FATHER HASN'T REALLY BEEN THERE FOR HIM. NO CHILD SUPPORT OR ANYTHING, ALL HE DOES IS CUSS ME OUT WHENEVER HE GETS THE CHANCE. HE HAS BI-POLAR DISORDER AND ADHD, WHILE WE WERE TOGETHER ALL HE DID WAS ABUSE ME PHYSICALLY AND EMOTIONALLY. HE HAS 4 PRIOR COUNTS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ALONG WITH OTHER CHARGES SUCH AS DRUGS AND THEFT. WE NEVER MARRIED BUT NOW I MARRIED SOMEONE WHO IS IN THE NAVY THAT LOVES MY SON AND I UNCONDITIONALLY AND I'M READY TO MOVE TO THE BASE HE IS STATIONED AT BUT MY SON'S FATHER IS THREATENING HE'S NOT GOING TO LET ME MOVE ON WITH MY LIFE AND MOVE OUR SON TO WHEREVER MY HUSBAND'S DUTY STATION MAY BE. WHAT LEGAL ACTION CAN MY SON'S FATHER TAKE AGAINST ME TO STOP ME FROM MOVING? CAN HIS PRIOR CRIMINAL RECORD HELP THE CASE IN MY FAVOR IF HE TAKES ME TO COURT TO STOP ME FROM MOVING? PLEASE HELP, I WANT TO MOVE BEFORE THIS MONTH IS OVER...

Typing in all caps is incredibly rude.
Is there an active custody/visitation agreement? If not, the custodial parent keeps the child until there is one. If the ex sues for custody, even if he didn't have a record, the best he could probably hope for is a 50/50 split. If you've moved by the time order is considered, then he'll probably only get court order visits during school holidays.
As a parent with domestic violence and drug charges, he most likely wouldn't be eligible for any kind of significant custody. Paying child support or not, that's immaterial.
If there's an active order, you need to deal with that before moving. You could end up in violation and be seen as legally kidnapping your own child. Leave the state and you'll have the FBI after you.
In that last scenario, or if your ex actually sues for custody, get an attorney. You don't seem the type, but it's really that important.

An absent make certain has all the same legal rights as a non-absent make certain. except a courtroom has ruled that one make certain has fewer rights than yet another for some particular reason which you haven't any longer distinctive.

He has the same rights you have unless a court has said otherwise. He can take you to court. His background can work against him.

Let him take you to court =) I doubt very seriously he will win.
He's just upset because you've moved on and are happy & so is your son.
Good luck!!!

I would recommend checking into him legally relinquishing his rights. ..
Contact and attorney.
Agree with the ALLCAPS comment. don't do that.
