What was the bird on the net during the game last night?
I am in quite a heated debate with a friend about what the bird was on the goal net during the England match last night. I am certainly no bird expert, but he is insisting it is a pigeon - and to me it looks nothing like one - however, I can't say what it is? Looks more like a thrush than a pigeon in my humble opinion? Can anyone positively identify it? Thanks :)
Ahhh, seems it was a pigeon then! Damn!! Certainly doesn't look like any pigeion I have ever seen before! Thank you all, much appreciated, I will now go eat humble pie...... :)

The England v Algeria match became interesting for our pet pigeons when a bird was spotted sitting on the Algeria goal post during the match. After a replay we saw what looked to be a juvenile speckled pigeon (Columba guinea) sitting quite safely on the goal post (seeing as there wasn’t much of a threat of a goal from England):

I am pretty sure it is a ''laughing dove'' which is native of course to South Africa. It looked a bit ruffled, It may have been ill owing to its lack of flapping around.
It has actually been wrongly id'd on a pigeon site..
