Does Pascal's Wager make sense to you?

I've always thought it was very clever, then later when I learned who Pascal was, I thought of course it's clever. Supposedly Ben Franklin said a similar thing about pessimism, that one might as well be pessimistic because if things do turn out badly, you won't be disappointed - if they happen to turn out well, you can be pleasantly surprised.

Pascal's Wager is a very thought out argument. A fun one to pick apart and challenge. I give it nothing more than that. An argument from one person's belief against another.

Pascals wager has flaws. It opens the door to other gods and goddesses. One of many, many reasons why I became a Pagan.

Not a bit, for two reasons:

1) belief is not a choice

2) lets say you could decide what to believe-- now you have to figure out which of the thousand religions are the right one. It's still a crap shoot with very low odds of winning.

And of course, a third reason would be that the entire idea of hell or eternal torture for believing the wrong way is ludacris.

The TWIT is chicken and trying to strattle 2 sides of the issue.There is no creater god.There is no evadence of one ...

I suppose if you have absolutely no self direction and prefer to rely on others to think for you, it might make sense.

I don't put any merit in it, because it is used almost exclusively by atheists.
