20 hour flight with a 15 month old.. any advice?
this coming December i am going to be flying with me son who will be about 15 months. we are flying from TX to Amsterdam (with a 3 hour lay over) to Nigeria.
this will be the first time we have all flown with him.
i am kinda freaked out, very nervous... i hate flying with people who just let their kids scream and run wild...
p.s. i am flying with my hubby and brother in-law and a 16 year old relative
the baby has his own seat..
we are going to Nigeria so my hubby can visit home for the first time in like 11 years.. so we will not be leaving the baby a home its supposed to be like a family reunion.

As a flight attendant, I can tell you bring plenty of snacks because you don't know when or what you'll be served as far as meals go. They're can always be delays or unforeseen circumstances. Also bring plenty of activities, books, crayons, travel toys etc. If you have a video player with headsets you can bring some of his favorite CD's/DVD's which should keep him occupied. I would also bring his favorite stuffed animal or blanket to make him feel more comfortable when he goes to sleep. That's a long journey, even for an adult. You might want to consider spending a night in Amsterdam at a nearby hotel just to break it up. You're a good mother to inquire and be so considerate of others. Many mothers don't care. Happy Travels!

pass MOMMY pass!!! I also have a 7 month old son... on account that he grew to become into 2.5 mo he has possibly flown over 50 hours... we are residing in Nashville, TN (US) and have flown incredibly the international over. Africa, Europe, Asia.... anyplace we would like and he's impressive. do merely the traditional recurring, different than it particularly is finished on the plane.... My motives are as follows: a million) it is impressive bonding time 2) commute is the main suitable present i ought to wish to offer my son - sure even at such an early age 3) prepare for destiny commute 4) a metamorphosis of environment - who would not elect that 5) photograph Ops! one among my in demand ones of my lil boy is us status in front of the large Pyramids.

Tylenol or Benedryl and a pacifier. The babies ears are not going to pop like adults will during take off and landing. If you don't like a pacifier, then use a bottle or have something for the baby to "nuk" on. give the baby a dose of medicine about 30 minutes before takeoff and landing. Try to keep him/her asleep. Other than that have a few good toys and a lot of patience. I hope for your sake the child travels well... If not you got a long flight in front of you! LOL!

maybe its not the best idea....when i was young my parents would leave us with relatives if they had to fly...if your moving thats one thing, but if you can fly that far you might be able to afford a sitter and well people do everything in public...
make sure you can clear his ears...make sure he doesn't dehydrate...15 months old at the equivalent of 10,000 feet (thats what they pressurize the cabin to) might be hard on their breathing and there mucous membranes will dry out...
you know...they use the recorded voice of a crying baby as a form of torture so by all means make sure he is healthy. do not give him a sleeping pill. frankly i don't know if you shoulg go...if it hurts his ears he will cry the whole way and everyone will rightfully be very upset with you.
also ask a doctor....
