How is my guinea pig doing this??? Please read?
I've got a bag of treats that I keep more then a foot away from my little guy's cage. There is absolutely no way he can reach them or escape but almost every day after work I will find a treat in his cage even though I haven't given him any. I live alone so there is no one to slip them in his cage. But how is he doing this? Its not like he's hungry, I feed him twice a day and always give him fresh veggies. But this is a little weird.
All ideas welcome thanks in advance.
I cleaned out his cage last week and I didn't leave any half eaten treats in the cage and the next day after I got home from work he had a new treat <some mini veggie ball> and I didn't give any treats since I cleaned the cage O.o
I don't have any other pets save for a fiddler crab and fish so there's no way for someone to help him get the treats lol I will start counting the treats and see if there is a change in number.

He did it again!!! and this time I found one less treat o.0
Believe me I've wondered the same thing. I don't know what he is but he's too smart for his own good lol

I'm not sure that I agree with the theories of hiding food...Guinea pigs stuff themselves right there and then as they are eating, they aren't like rats or squirrels who all store food...Hence the pig therory lol
I have to say, in our whole herd, we have never had a ''storer'' before, nor have I ever heard of it before. We do have certain piggies who get worried that another piggy is going to steal it's tidbit, so runs off with it in their mouths, but they then sit there and scoff it down, leaving what they can't fit in...Could it be just leftovers from the time you do give him a treat?
If not, I'm stumped. I know for a fact guinea pigs don't build nests, nor are they ''nocturnal'' or ''hibenators''(storing food away for winter), I would think maybe someone slipping him some, but that's not your case...You don't have any other pets do you? Maybe they think they're doing him a favour!
Good luck, let us know what you find out! Maybe try cleaning his whole cage out, so you know there's nothing in there to suprise you when you get home(like yesterday's half eaten treat!) and see if it happens again.

Lol it's a conspiracy alright! Very keen to see how this turns out!
I don't mean to sound rude or offensive, but you are sure you have a guinea pig, and not some sort of gerbil/hamster/guinea pig/squirrel hybrid, aren't you!?!?

LOL! Interesting:)
My guess is that he isn't actually eating it when you give it to him. He's saving it. If he puts it in his mouth, he probably carries it into his cage and hides it for the next day. Then moves it or something. He isn't a magical piggie, sorry:( that would be very cool! He's just saving the good stuff for later or something.
Just so you can make sure it isn't forgetfullness on your part, you aren't going crazy, someone isn't breaking into your apartment everyday and trying to make you think you're going crazy, he isn't a stretch amstrong piggie, and there's no ghost slipping him treats, count them after giving him his treat for the day. Then count them again the next day. I bet there will be the same amount. He's just not eating it when you think he is. Maybe he doesn't like them.
Good luck and I hope this is the answer-forgetfullness isn't too bad, but the other ones are super creepy, so seriously hope I'm right:) Don't get all freaked out, though, if I'm wrong!!!!

Guinea pigs like to bury their food. Then the next day or so or longer they uncover it and eat it. It is a natural instinct to do so. Check her/his whole cage, under bedding, inder hidey hole, and you will probably find treats and other food. ;)
