We've been training our 11-week old Chihuahua to go outside. Eventually we'd like to have a litter box availab?

I don't think dogs should use litter boxes. They are perfectly capable of going outside, and yes, they can hold it until you take them out.

NO NO NO - train your dog to go outside ALL the time. Litter boxes are for cats. If you start letting your Chi pee and poop IN the house, you will have her doing it all the time and not always in a litter box. Pads and litter boxes are NOT a good idea.

Dogs should be taught to be going outside no matter what age or size.

Dogs are to go outside, cat go in a litter box. What will you do when you go some where and take dog with you. And then it has to go to the bathroom. Ah no liter box around.

Why do you want your dog to toilet in the house? If this dog is trained to go outside, let it continue to toilet outside. Introducing a litter box would be very confusing to the dog. Do you want it to toilet inside or outside? Make the decision and stick with it.

A dog using a litter box is ridiculous. It's also lazy. If you can't be bothered to take her outside to do her business a few times a day then you don't need to have a dog.

it will just confuse her. Dogs are not cats.. stick to the outdoor training.
