what is cilantro supposed to taste like?
My mom has recently started making things with cilantro, and every dish she makes tastes like nothing but pepper. I've tried searching the internet and the only mention of what it tastes like is the ones that say soap, and i don't taste soap. i want to know if i should hide the pepper from my mom or if i'm really tasting the herb.

That's funny, I love cilantro and I don't think it tastes anything like soap or pepper.
If anything, it's SORT of like a mint with a fresh kick. It can be a little overwheming if used in large quantites, and usually become the ONLY thing you taste.
I say hide the pepper, especially if the cilantro isn't what you're tasting.

Aske her to put a little cilantro in the recipe and then serve a little dish with more chopped cilantro that other people (she) can add. Cilantro has undertones of radish.
