How could of solve this problem given the information.

Suppose the block has a mass of 3.1 kg, the spring has a force constant of 550 N/m , and the coefficient of kinetic friction between the block and the floor is 0.15. 

On the number line A=0   B=2.0 cm

Path 2 goes down from point A, hooks a left then down a little again then hooks a right.


B.)  Find the work done on the block by the spring and by friction if the block is moved DIRECTLY from point A to point B?

Work done by the spring = 1/2*k*x^2 = 1/2*550N/m*(0.020)^2 = 0.11N-m


Work by friction = -μ*m*g*x = -0.15*3.1kg*9.8m/s^2*0.020m = -0.091N-m
