What product provides excellent clear, waterproof (i.e. sweatproof) sunscreen or sunblock protection?

Question

I'm searching for a waterproof sunscreen or sunblock that will not drip as I sweat. I play outdoor sports in the summer, which doesn't typically include swimming. I'm looking for specific product recommendations, and an explanation or personal story with your answer would be appreciated. The product should be clear (or absorbent enough to turn clear), can come in spray (preferred) or lotion form, and should be reasonably priced - not above $20.

Serious answers requested.

Products already tried, which I felt weren't that effective:
- Coppertone Sport Sunscreen Continuous Spray (SPF 30)
- Neutrogena Fresh Cooling Body Mist Sunblock (unsure of SPF, likely 30+)
- Neutrogena Dry-Touch Ultra Sheer Sunblock (unsure of SPF, likely 30+)
- Walgreens Sunscreen Lotion with Parsol 1789 (SPF 50)

Take a look at Paula's Choice website. She will give you scientific information about her products and how they work. Some effective products will go on white, but turn clear.

SPF 70 is probably overkill but you can get Neutrogena Age Shield SPF 45 and you will be very happy with it. I use it on my face, neck, upper chest and hands, and I have rosacea. Also, Skinceuticals C E Ferulic Acid serum will increase your face's resistance to damage from UVA and UVB. It is the ONLY expensive product I buy - its $125/bottle and I get about 2 months out of a bottle. Use in the a.m. after cleansing and give 5 or 10 minutes to soak in before using sunblock and/or foundation. According to a local magazine article about skin care, several female dermatologists in Dallas use it on their own skin. It is also great on the backs of your hands. No one else makes anything like it for now so I just price shop on the internet when I need a new bottle.

Hi kee,

I use Coppertone "Water Babies" Sunscreen Lotion Spray because it's 50 SPF (about the highest you can go for UV protection) recommended by a family member.

It spays on white foamish like. I then rub it on to make sure that it's spread even and blends in, not staying white.  I've had great success with it so far.  I do a lot of outdoor work with my job and I haven't noticed it dripping off due to sweating.  Plus, I don't seem to get burned when using it.

I recommend giving it a try.  And if you do please let me know how it works out.  Thanks.

To the best of my own experience, VICO Turmeric Ayurvedic Cream may answer your requirement. It is made in India by Vico Laboratories Ltd. & is priced in the range of Rs.80 to Rs.100/- I don't know about any imported or any other brand as I seldom use such product/s.

Any good Brand that will say on the label sweat and waterproof will be great. I live in Arizona and hike rock-climb swim and dive,any good brand absorbs quickly and clean,and stays put. Good luck
p.s. sprays are very messy as far as I'm concerned.

For me ,cocoa butter  is the best ! It's  cheap,offers a good protection for skin and it's emollient also ! It ensures a good permeability for perspiration(you need to have one).Plus one, it gets you a uniformly tan skin.In my country,i can buy it under 10 $/container,about 300gr.
