I would like to draw the human face better?

Question

I do ok with white & Asian female faces, but other ethnicity's throw me as do many male face's( I have drawn some but they only look male if I put a beard on them or am working from a photo)
I would also like to know how to draw the skull & how it varies, Does any one know of some good books on the issue?

First, do lots of sketches, making your lines as long as possible, and controlling your hand as you go. You can also retrace lines as needed. For the skull, make an egg shape, and make a wedge coming down from it, that will form the cranium and mandible. Do this a few times from simple angles, using a person, if possible, or yourself. Draw a light line around the equator of the skull, and down the line of symmetry. The eyes rest just above the equatorial line, with the bottom of the eye along the line. Around halfway between the equator and the bottom of the jaw, a small line will tell you where the top of the upper lip is, and the nose will be just above it. For the nose, start it sweeping down from the brow line just around the same latitude as the top of the eyes. Continue the bridge of the nose down, gently, so you can ensure that the nose is closer to real life. And usually drawing a circle will be good for the tip of the nose, and you can shape the nostrils from there. The ears usually rest with the center just below the equatorial line.
