i came home from school without eating breakfest or lunch and my older brother ate both so when we whent out to eat me and my brother orderd the same thing and when we got home my mom was checking her suger level since shes a diabetic and i told her for fun to check mine with the neadle and it ended up to be 480! and she checked my brother who had eaten all three times that day and his was 180 and i ate less than him could i have it to my momsays that it goes through the family im worried should i be

How soon did you test after you last ate? Checking your blood sugar at least 2 hours after you last ate usually gives the most accurate result for a post meal reading.

However, a level of 480 is never normal for a non diabetic, even if you tested a half hour after you ate.  A non diabetic should be able to eat tons of carbs (which is the main thing that raise the blood sugar) and never have their blood sugar get anywhere near 480.

A blood sugar reading of 180 and 480 would indicate both you and your brother are diabetics. You guys need to head to the doctors office. The 480 reading also indicates you are dehydrated. You need meds right a way. And yes, you should be worried but with doctors treatment, you can help to control your diabetes by controlling your blood sugar readings.

First thing to do if a possitive result, re-test again.

Then remember the procedure must be correct. Second, do you have symptoms of diabetic? Like easily tired, often to pee, often drink, etc. I suggest to re-check your blood sugar either later or the next day.

You should go to the doctor to get checked out. You could possibly be diabetic seeing as your mum is a diabetic.
