Invisible Hard drive help?

Question

I have recently got a new computer and pulled out the hard drives from my old pc, the main drive worked fine but the second one failed a few days before I got my new pc.

Installing the older drives into my new pc I have found a problem (main drive works fine as a slave still), the second drive seems to still not work. BIOS sees the drive but windows wont recognise it (although it shows up in the device manager, and can tell me it's properties, it wont access the drive)

I am hoping I can format it and all will be well but windows wont let me do it and in BIOS I don't know how to. But i would prefer to access and repair the drive without loss of information if possible. anyone able to help at all?

Make sure that if you are installing the drive as the slave drive you change the jumper to slave drive too thats the little clip looking thing next to where you plug power into hard drive!!!!!!!!!!!

Has it chosen a drive letter that is already in use?  you dont mention which OS (operating system) you are using new pc could be vista or windows 7. Any how off the top of my head goto
 my computer right click select manage
 on left hand side select disk management
 open this up and see if you can see your drive in there
 if so right click and select change drive letter

i do no longer think of folders are 'misplaced' as such, they're the two there in a HIDDEN state or they do no longer look to be there. whilst a folder is assessed as hidden it potential this is not seen to precise shoppers. i might actual click that conventional folder and decide protection. purely be sure you are the owner or which you belong to the team that owns the folder and which you have finished administration checked for you or your team.
