What are the Valium Effects?

Actually Valium-Diazepam (and all benzodiazepines) are depressants (as is alcohol)

You feel down and want not to feel down,but you have children to care for- taking a *lot* of valium can cause respiratory depression and death.

Taking the prescribed amount on the bottle *with your name on* will make you feel a little more relaxed.

Taking Valium where there is the possibility of mild to severe clinical depression is not recommended, it is for the *short term* (up to 4 weeks) treatment of severe debilitating anxiety.

Anyone who drinks alcohol on top of taking Diazepam is heading for a world of pain.

If you aren't anxious and are more depressed i'd advise not to take it unless on medical advise from your doctor

Benzodiazepines do not solve real life problems - they attenuate your feelings and when you ultimately stop them, the problem is still there to have to solve,face and fix.

The valium, if taking as prescribed by the doctor, should get rid of your anxiety (it's a benzodiazapam or anti-anxiety drug). If you take too much, it will make you sleepy. (You may also be sleepy when you start taking it until you get used to it. Please don't drink with the Valium. I was on Klonopin once - another benzo) and I had to go to a party at my Boss' house. I was really nervous so I took a few Klonopin before I went. After drinking two glasses of wine at my Boss' house, I have no recollection of what I did. I was told I did some really embarrassing things. Just a warning. One other thing. Don't go off the Valium cold turkey. Going off benzos cold turkey can cause fatal withdrawal symptoms like seizures. Aren't valium and xanax the same? I love them, but only take .5 pill to start. It will absolutely make you sleepy, but after a few days will level out. The problem is that it is addictive because you get used to it. No big deal though, because at small doses ( 1-3) a day, you can just skip one for a few days. They only have about a 4-6 hour effect. It will definitely take the "edge" off, and help you cope with stress. My doctor loves it.
