Why do (some) black people think they deserve special attention?
Because it is black history month, I see alot of black folk walk around as if they deserve special attention.
Why is this... And I'm not trying to bring racist comments into this....
I don't understand how people can hang on to... "ohhh you enslaved us, we deserve it!!!"
White people were enslaved in places too! But we don't try to make a big deal out of it... and we don't walk around telling people that us white people enslaved the black people, and that makes us better.
That is what a majority of black people act upon...
I don't understand it.

There is a long history in this country where we take a minority group, like American Indians or African Americans, and idealize them as being somehow "more in touch" with their feeling, nature, etc.
The more recent trend you are noticing, which comes and goes every few decades, is to do this with Black people. In the 20s it was Jazz, in the 50s it was Blues/Rock and Roll, in the 60s it was the civil rights movement, and in the late 80s-2000s it was R&B/Rap.
There are other factors as well -- if you grew up anytime from the 1970s through now, you were bombarded with government-sponsored propaganda about how great black people are. Additionally, you were also bombarded by the corporate media by products (music, movies, television) celebrating "Thug Life" and "black culture."
So a lot of black people grew up like this, with everyone telling them to their face that they were "the best, the greatest, so great, it's so great to be black," etc., even when the real facts didn't back this up. It was reverse racism, and never mind that many of the same people who sold this message to them and you didn't live that reality in their real lives (like letting their son or daughter date a black person). I feel bad for a lot of these people -- they are set up for failure, and haven't been taught that you need more than just attitude and propaganda to get through life -- you need education and skills. Instead, they've been given Dumbo's magic feather, and think they can fly.
Finally, there are studies that show that many black teens, despite the negative feedback they might get from racism and other obstacles, have abnormally high levels of self-esteem. They think this might be tied to higher testosterone levels relative to the rest of the population in those age groups.
Quelle(n): Life. I grew up with the propagana, learned early that the emperor had no clothes, and ever since have been very critical of anyone saying any ethnic group is better than any other without any real evidence. Alot of white people ask this same question
take my answer the way you like, but you asked a question
and I'm answering it
White people brought Africans over here as property, we all know.
How many Africans where killed trying to be free?
How long did the civil rights movement have to go on before we could even be in the same ROOM as a white person?
How many of us had to die just so we could VOTE?
If you are tired of us hanging on to this " You enslaved us" thing
then you should think about how long it took whites to realize that we ARE just like everyone else.
Just because we have darker skin, we still bleed
we still cry, hurt, smile and laugh.
It sickens me how easily some white people forget that part
that slaves WERE treated like property and the civil rights acts and movements were only 60 something years ago.
That's not that long ago.
We just NOW have a black- excuse me- ALMOST black president
and how many have we had before him?
So, yea, Blacks want to hold their heads high.
Our ancestors fought hard so we CAN do that.
And we have one month
Big deal
so do hispanics.
Whites are celebrating all the time the freedoms they have
according to you, whites were enslaved right?
You guys were freed right?
You guys celebrate right?
So, why can't we?
No one wants special attention.
We got our month
and our ancestors helped shape this America that you love and live in.
So maybe you need to celebrate with us
because our history helped shape YOUR today.

i totally dislike her, and so her music. i thought that with this music video she would fix all the friday **** perhaps. But it didn't, even the stupid Friday song was WAY MORE CATCHIER. RIDICULOUSLY CATCHY, i would take a shower and somehow be singing it, even tho it was stupid. While my moment wasn't like that at all, but people hate her too much now a days, i mean to me, she was strong enough to make a come back after all the hate she got. Her voice, well all i can say is that her voice is NOT alike to Taylor Swift's voice. lol and the video was...fine. But you might be right. If it's right then all i can say is that the person who had that idea was ******* genius. Now she's famous and has got all the media attention she needs for FREE to promote her.

Are you sure you've seen black people walking around as if they deserve special attention? Or is it just your mindset? Serious question, one you must ask yourself! Most of the black people around these days have about as much conception of slavery as you or I do! Very little! There are of course some black people who have carved out a big chip and placed it on the shoulders, but no more than white people have. Be honest with yourself. Because you're worth it!

Actually Black history month much like Hispanic history month is all about learning and celebrating different cultures and respecting everything they brought to this melting pot society called America.
You seem to take this as "blacks think they're special" and thats because well your stupid maybe if you (and even some blacks) took the month as a change to reflect on how far we all came then maybe we can get back to making progress.
But this won't happen very very very few people care about black history month matter of fact I think its the people who complain that keep it alive.

Yea, good question! Blacks make up 13% of the population. So, that race should only appear in 1.3 out of every 10 commercials on TV for example. Not all 10, like it is today.
That race should only take up 1.3 out of ever 10 dollars of public assistance. Not 4.9 like it is today.
Get it?
Ya ll don t need to be the damn spotlight in every aspect of modern day life!
In fact, Latino s should be in 10 of every 10 commercials, and they should get 4.9 of every 10 bucks of public assistance, cuz they are a bigger percent of the pop than the black race.

"That is what a majority of black people act upon..."
If your not Black, or don't know every Black person in the world, How would you know what the majority of Black people think or do?

I guess I'll be the only one on here to stand up admit that I see it the same as you. Yes, they do act like they are hot ****, but they need to get over it. They aren't any better than anyone else, just like anyone else isn't. It's just that they feel compelled to attain what they could never have in the past, it's just a phase, like a child goes through. By the time they realize everything will probably be too ****** up to matter.

Why do (some) White people think they are far more superior than other races? They think everything should be giving to them on a silver platter.
