Why the big discussion about people's rights and the new airport scanners"?
If you want to fly, do the scan, if you don't want the scan, take a train, bus or car?
How is this a violation of someone's rights? Why would the ACLU get involved in this issue?
No one is forced to fly. If you don't like being scanned, don't fly, simple as that.
Thought I would mention, I won't be giving thumbs down to anyone, your opinion is a reflection of who you are and I have no problem with that if you don't?

People don't seem to realize that they aren't being forced to go through these things.
A - if you don't want to be scanned, you can be patted down.
B - if you don't want either, you don't have to fly.
But, ignorance seems to be bliss, so people will keep complaining.

Because everything that is happening has been planned out a long time ago. This "terrorist stuff" isn't real. What you are seeing is being set-up by the government. Its simply scare tactics for the elite to issue in their new world order, where they take away everyone's rights.
The ACLU isn't real. Its controlled by Secret Societies. The only reason I can imagine that they are getting involved is to make it appear that there is an organization fighting for the constitution. We hear lots of rhetoric about the ACLU, but in the end, nothing ever changes. The ACLU is fraudulent. They are not non biased and libertarian as they try to make it appear. They only take cases that serve the secret agendas of these Secret Societies. If an average person's civil rights have been violated and he reports it to the ACLU, they probably won't even return his call. I know this from personal experience.

Agree with Christopher H.
By doing so, the good non-terrorist Muslim will have to really do something to the terrorist Muslim. Right now they only screaming saying "we are not terrorist", "not all Muslim are terrorist", but they do nothing about it.
Why should non-Muslim women be put on embarrassing scanner because of those Muslim ?

I don't mind the scan, but I do have a problem with who may be viewing the scan considering different arousal interests. We should not be expected to trade a little privacy for a perverse policy.
It would be advisable for the scanner to do the scan and notification on it's own so that only possible risks are detected--this would be ideal, and continue to afford some privacy.
If this level of technology is not available, then they would have to be more selective considering who they entrust with the ability to view scans to maintain a level of privacy, moral and civil levels of service.

Quit giving up my rights! There is this pesky little thing called "Due Process". Scanners are not for general screening. But for screening those who trigger red flags. Everyone who has made the terrorism watch list, people buying one way tickets, flying without luggage, etc. Also anyone that acts suspiciously.
Soldiers are dying to protect my rights and you are cavalierly tossing them away. 99%+ of all airline passengers are not terrorists. There must surely be some accommodation between probable cause and fascism.

First off, the ACLU are a bunch of scum bag idiots. I'm just posting to agree with you...if you don't want to be scanned then don't FREAKIN fly!!! Some people are saying that it's like a strip search because the scanner can see "everything". I don't care if someone sees my 5in pecker to make me feel safe flying! If you don't like to be scanned then take the grey hound cross country!

Well, it would be much easier if we just used the common-sense of racial and religious profiling. Instead of sending an embarassed grandmother from Nebraska through the full body scan, just have a separate line for muslims and for anyone from the Middle East. They asked for it, they should get penalized. Whenever one of these crackpot freaks gets arrested, the TSA comes up with some stupid new rule for everyone. All the terrorist attempts to take down airplanes have been committed by one group - muslims. That is the suspect, not "anyone who flys".

I am in favor of the scanners. I take several intercontinental flights every year and I have no problem submitting to their use. Until someone figures out a better way to keep people from hiding things under their clothes, it's the only logical thing to do short of profiling.

Its an invasion of privacy. In the scanner, you look almost naked
why should 300 million Americans be subjected to that because 2 dozen muslims hijacked planes
