can anyone help me find a list of non tree nuts?
my daughter is having a party in class. we are being asked to bring in non tree nuts (there is a child allergic to tree nuts). i've looked around and i keep finding lists of snack foods without nuts. if anyone can help me figure out what she can take in, besides peanuts, it would be appreciated.

we can only bring in nuts (non tree) and apples. the party is a native american theme using food that was gathered by early tribes. other kids will be bringing in berries, drinks, plates, and cups.

The following common nuts are considered tree nuts under U.S. law: almond; Brazil nut; cashew; chestnut; filbert/hazelnut; macadamia nut; pecan; pine nut (pignolia nut); pistachio; walnut.
You could take some of the following:
Peanuts, as you already know
Corn Nuts
Sesame seed logs
Sunflower seeds (either in shells or shelled)
Pumpkin seeds
Dried soya beans
Wasabi Peas
Popcorn

always ask the restaurants. Lots of time they cook with peanut oil or make food for others with nuts on the same grill or hot plate as for you. Sushi should cause no problem unless you are also allergic to sesame. It is used a lot in sauces and as a sprinkle. However the sushi is prepared behind the sushi bar and not in the kitchen. But whenever you go to a restaurant you take chances and you put your life in the hands of strangers. Sometime they do not even know about what's going on in the kitchen and who cooked what dish with what ingredients.

those would be the peas and beans. like peanuts they are actually a bean.
