Since this is similar to another question posted, I'll answer yours in the same way: with a question.

Would it be so awful if the universe did come to be by chance? Why would it be so terrible if the only purpose for our existence is the one we choose for ourselves?

I simply don't understand why there *has* to be some higher purpose for us being here. What's wrong with the idea that there isn't?

It's amazing to see God's creation. During a beautiful sunset I think whoa look at the wondrous colors God paints in the sky. Our human bodies are a miracle and all the creatures of this world. Only God could have created everything. Looking at nature and all that beauty, makes me so happy to know God love's us that much to create everything.

There is not purpose; no meaning behind life.

People should just get used to it.

But biologists and medical scientists predict we will have biological immortality within a couple of decades, and then I'm sure in fifty or so years we will have cracked matrix like simulated realities.

So if you want to wait half a decade and then spend the rest of eternity in a simulated world where god *does* exist, feel free.

The idea that there must be a 'purpose' defined by some unseen entity, such as a God, is an artificial construct of man. We are intelligent beings who can define our own purpose in life. We don't need mythology to validate our existence.

Why does anything need to have a purpose? This is my question to you. I don't think anything in life has a purpose and I actually find though to be liberating.
