if i get "cross talk", is it possible that I am getting my neighbors bill added to my phone account too?
Okay, so I was getting cross talk a couple of months ago with my old cordless. After hearing my neighbor apply for a loan, I was able to figure out who it was and just thought he must have the same cordless frequency as me. So, I got a new cordless. I stopped hearing him, but ever since then I keep getting strange calls. One number turned out to be a collection company and they asked for a person with the same name as the one I heard applying for a loan. This bothered me, so I went online and then noticed I've had an extra charge on my phone account that started about the same time as all of this. If the debt collectors have my number, and are asking for Stephen. If I was able to hear his complete conversations. ...is it then possible this extra charge actually belongs to him too? I hope so...maybe I'll be able to get the money back. I know I didn't authorize any other charges to be take from my phone bill. What else would cause this? Is it possible he's tapped into my line some how?

I would definitely contact the phone company ASAP. Are you friendly with your neighbor "Stephen"? If so, I would give him a head's up that you are receiving calls for him and overhearing his conversations. Frankly, the fact that he's getting collection calls and applying for loans on what appears to be your phone line sounds very hinky. Definitely get the phone company involved to avoid any lasting impact on you from these shenanigans. I also recommend that you check your credit report to make sure there's nothing more untoward going on.

It's time to get a new cordless phone.! Get a digital one, a good cordless phone will NOT use a frequency that is already being used. So look for a good spread spectrum cordless phone. They have channel searching and switching ability..
