Can BMX bikes cause a slipped disk on ur spine?

Like if you BMX a lot or something, because I want to get a Felt Vault, but I need to find out if BMX bikes can cause any spine problems before I get one.

Also, will I get any back problems or something when I cycle long distances (like 10 km) with a BMX (I don't want to get a mountain bike because I wanna go on the skate park, bunny hop, etc)?

I have been riding Flatland BMX for 4yrs now, around 10 hours a week, if not more. I always end up sore and tired after a big session (like 6hr sessions), but it always went away after a few days.

Just recently, My lower back started to hurt a lot, so I went to see a Chiropractor, and she showed me my x-rays of my spine. From all the slouching over my bike, my lower back became slightly compressed. I've been getting regular adjustments, and it's coming better now.

Any kind of exertion on your body like BMXing, is bound to throw something slightly out of place in your back, or your neck, but you wont feel these slight displacements. However, over years, if not treated, they can build to cause you pain on ANY place in your body, known as 'transferred pain'. I would suggest seeing a chiropractor once a month, to keep your body in good working order. A healthy spine means a healthy body and mind. :)

Well.. anything could landing in a upright position is bad as it puts more stress on your spine. Riding long distances can cause your back to ache due to the hunched position. What i would reccomend is buying a dirt jump bike with 24" wheels so you can still go to skateparks and do all the tricks but with a more comfortable position and versatile bike for long rides and offroad.

BMX Bikes are made for riding, and hard stuff, if it can withstand a 20 foot drop I'm pretty sure a nice ride in the park won't hurt it.

Inactivity (sitting on your butt eating chips) is more likely to cause back problems than riding a bike.
