I need help on writing an appeal for donations to the general public?
how do i start off and how can I make it into two paragraphs? Please and Thanks!
I am writing to the general public about asking for donations for my local mosque =)

Do you mean you are writing to the general public or making donations to the general public ?

Why are you asking for donations? This should be established first.
Second, where will the proceeds go? Education? Improving the mosque? Charity? Helping 'needy' members?
When you know the answers, then, you can compose the letter.
People are willing to give, but many need to know where their donations will go.
Once you get the donations, be sure to send a very nice thank you letter .
Some will use it as a way to support a tax deduction.
