Please Christian only, God bless I need someone to really explain if I am wrong about the sabbath day.?

In Mark 2:27, Jesus said "The sabbath was made for man, not man for sabbath" Then in Mark 3:4 Jesus also said "which is lawful on the sabbath, to do good or evil, to save a life or to kill? But everyone remained silent. In Mark 3:5 at that moment a man's hand was healed. Now for me, I live for today and I should live today Holy. Is it wrong to say today is also my sabbath day, and everyday to me is my sabbath, that I should keep Holy on to the Lord always? or just on the sabbath? and what is the sabbath? for I have no time to rest. Please Help! God Bless us, everyone!

You are going to have to determine for yourself WHOSE Sabbath you are going to keep, yours, or the one the Almighty established for you as one of His appointed times or Feasts. Please read Leviticus 23. Please study the information on the links that I showed you on several other questions. You can also, at this time, go thru my Q&A's and those of my contacts and find the truth.

The Sabbath is Friday sunset to Saturday sunset, the same time the Jews have kept from before the time Messiah walked the Earth. It has not changed, it's time has not moved to another day. It is as binding as it was the day it was created in Genesis.

There is no problem with you setting aside a personal time for the Almighty, but there is a problem of you doing so in order to avoid the appointed time which He has set for you. Would you bail out on an appointment with your boss at work? Same principle applies. The Creator God of the Universe, the Almighty, has set a time for you to share with Him, why, out of love for Him, would you not want to be there?

This person calling himself "David" has the same Biblically ignorant cut and paste answer for every question he posts on. He does not have a clue what it means to be a follower of Messiah Y'shua.

Here are some of the verses he ignores in his deception:

2 Timothy 3:14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God (Or "God breathed"), and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

The only scriptures in existence when Paul wrote this were the Hebrew Scriptures which we call the "Old" Testament today.

1John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. (This includes Sabbath breaking)

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord

1John 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

The Sabbath is a Commandment, not a suggestion.

Edit: you are getting a lot of misinformation by folks who value their traditions more than the truth from the Bible.

Colossians 2:16 was written to a group of gentile believers being persecuted for keeping the Sabbath, Holy Days, and New Moons in direct opposition to the pagan gentile society in which they lived.

Romans 6:14, taken in context, is about folks deciding for them selves which days to set aside for personal fasting or whether or not to eat meat. These were personal decisions and had nothing to do with any Sabbath or Holy Day.

    Read 1 John 3:4.

Now go figure out how this fits with the following:

Romans 5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. 19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. 20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:

21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

2 God forbid! How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein....15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid!

Paul is saying that we, as Christians should no sin by breaking God's Law. That includes the SAbbath.

Edit: One of your answers states that the New Testament does not repeat the command to keep the Sabbath, nothing could be further from the truth. This next section also shows the lie of those who think that Jesus is their Sabbath:

Hebrews 3:4 For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.

5 And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after; 6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.

7 ¶ Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, 8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: 9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years. 10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways. 11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.) 12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. 13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; 15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. 16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. 17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? 19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. 2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. 3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. 4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. 5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest. 6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief: 7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts. 8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.

9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. 10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. 11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

Edit: On the 7th Day God created the Sabbath for man by resting and setting the day apart for Holy use. So, the Creator was still working on the Sabbath, by creating that special day. He did not need to rest, He was creating something special for us.

Edit: Amy, by your reasoning it is ok to lie, steal and commit adultery too.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with worshiping Jesus and God every single day, in fact we should. But it can't be realistic to make everyday a sabbath day, after all one of those days you will have to work, job, cleanhouse, so on so forth. smile.

So why not keep Gods Sabbath day, instead of men's sabbath day.

Jesus was a sabbath keeper. And all the Christians after him for decades and decades until the persecuted church compromised with rome and became open to slowly having Gods Sabbath replaced by Satans Sunday.

    THE SABBATH

The seventh day saturday is the one day That God commanded all to cease from one's own pleasure and to cease from work

The ten commandments is inclusive of the 7th day. The ten commandments was in the ark of the covenant in the most holy place of the earthly sanctuary in the old Covenant.

The tencommandments is also in the ark or the covenant in the Most Holy Place of the Heavenly Sanctuary where Jesus is currently situated as our High Priest (read Hebrews).

The Ten Commandments Law of God is clearly eternal and that includes His Sabbath which was not made for the Jews, but according to The Son of God, made for man.

If you love God, keep His Commandments.

Gods law or the traditions of men? One is connected to the seal of God, the other, the mark of the beast.

I recommend everyone chooses Gods law rather than mans traditions.

    Adam

Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do God's commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

I agree that every day should be lived as though it were a holy day. So I think your perspective on things is right.

But also, I think that the actual day of the sabbath is special. When the Bible says that the sabbath was made for man and not man for the sabbath, that means that the sabbath is a good thing for man. It's not meant to be burden or something you loath. It's purpose is to be helpful to man, and should be something you enjoy.

In Genesis, on the 7th day of creation, God rested. He didn't do any more creation work, but instead enjoyed what he had created. So I think the sabbath is that same sort of thing for man. It should be a day when we rest from our earthly work, and also spiritually rest. That spiritual rest comes from reading the Bible or going to church or spending quality time with others.

Hope this helps a little. Keep meditating on this. God Bless.

God wants you to rest so you can do His work with a clear sober mind, so rest! That is why it is created because He knows what is best for us. Make and take the time and go to Church, go to lunch, take a nap, read a good book.........rest so you can be refreshed to do God's work the rest of the week. Keep it simple.

The term "Sabbath" derives from the Hebrew shabbat (שבת), "to cease", which was first used in the Biblical account of the seventh day of Creation (Genesis 2:2-3). Observation and remembrance of Sabbath is one of the Ten Commandments (the fourth in the original Jewish, the Eastern Orthodox, and most Protestant traditions, the third in Roman Catholic and Lutheran traditions). Most people who observe Biblical Sabbath regard it as having been instituted as a "perpetual covenant [for] the people of Israel" (Exodus 31:13-17), a sign in respect for the day during which God rested after having completed the Creation in six days (Exodus 20:8-11); Isaiah extends the term to include even corrupted rest-day traditions (Isaiah 1:13). Sabbath desecration was originally officially punishable by death (Exodus 31:15).

In case you haven't noticed, very few Christians actually observe the Sabbath in any way and most will attempt to explain that the Sabbath is now Sunday or it was done away with altogether. Asking people who don't believe the Sabbath applies to them to help you with this will not get your questions answered. You need to carefully study the bible and draw your own conclusions.

I will give you a verse to consider, Isaiah 56:6. It should be obvious that "sons of the strangers" is not a reference to Jews but rather to Gentiles who come to believe and keep the Sabbath.

While you are in Isaiah take a look at Isaiah 66:15-24. This is very obviously an end times passage but it paints quiet a different picture than that of Christianity as it now exist.

Here's another comforting verse concerning the Sabbath Day.Matthew Chapter 12: 1-8 Jesus is The Sabbath. Every day Is Holy and putting First Things First. The letter of the Law will not save you and it is a matter of the heart and spirit connecting with the Godhead.

Jesus corrected alot of actions which were legalistic almost to obsessive amongst the pharissees and the temple priests who looked on and listened to his words and were ready to critisize His actions. He was ready with answers to correct them.

The Sabbath was made for man. This means that the Sabbath was to benefit mankind. To rest is an essential part of a good healthy lifestyle. Not only to physiacally rest but to spiritually rest.

Christ Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath. He not only corrected the legalism of the Sabbath but showed how it was designed to benefit.

The Sabbath is a day to to be honoured for God. If we were invited to the palace for a meeting with the queen (in the UK) or to the whitehouse for a meeting with the president on a Wednesday would you arrive on the Thursday?

We are to observe this on the 7th day.

The Seventh day is not Sunday it has been observed by the Jewish nation for millenia on the 7th day, which is in todays language Saturday.

Now observing the Sabbath is a blessing. The Sabbath means to cease. A ceasation. You asked what is a Sabbath? Its a ceasation from work.

But no the Sabbath cannot be on just anyday of the week, not when its expressly commanded to be remembered. The 4th Commandment is to remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. and on the other 6 days you can work and labour.

It is true that we are to rest in Christ everyday from the need to work for our Salvation. This is the essence of the book of Hebrews.

Christ is indeed our rest from effort to be righteous on our own merits.

If you have no time to rest, then you will find life very tiresome. Doctors are consiatntly trying to reign in the stressful factors of life and ask patients to REST.

I would encourage you to look at your weekly schedule and think about what can be left to one side and take a walk, take time out to sit in a quiet place and simply begin by praying to God to ask for help in this.

    Seek His refuge.

Charli`s answer was so encouraging I wanted to wave and say I fully support everyword in her answer too!

God Bless you in your seeking.

In the beginning the Lord blessed and sanctified the sabbath. That day was set apart from the rest but it is a good practice to do good always each day. The Lord did good works each day while he created the heavens and the earth as are you called to do always. When the Lord sanctifies something it is sacred as are we but the difference between a place, or object, or people we still have the capacity to still sin which would void out our sanctification.

I'm not exactly sure what you are asking. Let me respond this way. Sabbath was given to the Jews. Ex 31:14-17

Nowhere in the New Testament are Christians commanded to keep Sabbath. On the Contrary, the New Testament is a record of the number of times Christians broke Sabbath. Jesus broke Sabbath many times, and encouraged the disciples and apostles to do so.

Paul said (I don't know the reference; sorry) that every day is Sabbath, since the Christian is supposed to rest in the risen Saviour, Jesus. I hope that answers your question.

The sabbath is a law; a condition of the old covenant to which Christians are not a party to. You cannot be held to the conditions of a covenant you were never a party to. Also, that covenant ended.

The sabbath made for man" is used by sabbatarians eisegetically, taking it out of context. This is a deceptive practice that leads to one becoming deceived.

Paul stated that Christians are free to esteem a day or to esteem all days alike. The Christians "sabbath" is not a literal day, but a condition found in Christ.

Taking the Sabbath is just taking a day. We should do our best to be Holy everyday. But even then just because we take a Sabbath, are we truly resting in the Lord and His will?
