Spiritually speaking, what is the most pain you have ever been in?

Just curious. I just walked home from the hospital a few minutes ago (they would not let me drive after all that morphine). Out of the blue I got a kidney stone tonight. Wow, that hurt like hell. I've had acute appendicitis before, but this just beat the #$@! out of that. For about a half hour there, I would have welcomed death. What would a religious person tell me was the reason for all that pain? What part of God's plan does that serve, believers? Sorry to ramble, it's the drugs and temporary euphoria created by being relieved from that awful suffering.

Yes I have had kidney stones before and there is NO PAIN that I can even think of that is worse than that..

Though I am a believer, I have NO idea what part of God's plan kidney stones have to do with anything...

It's seems pathetic, I know, but menstrual cramps. Some months they are something along the lines of tolerable, but other months the pain is horrendous. Sobbing and begging and rocking and hyperventilating until the 5 or 6 Advil kick in and make it bearable. I can feel my abdomen vibrating when they're that bad, and the intensity of the pain comes and goes in waves. It goes on for 3-4 days, and seriously interferes with my ability to function.

Last month was a tolerable month, so I'm expecting to be in rough shape by Sunday...

    I hope you're feeling better soon :)

Appendicitis while I was walking in the mountains when I was 16. I was vomiting and blacking out and waking, vomiting and blacking out. I was with a school "nature trip" of four days. They do things like that in Japanese schools. The dumb woman teacher looking after us said I was homesick. Twelve hours later they agreed I should see a doctor but I was past caring. Doctor said hospital now and I remember him shouting at the teacher, which felt good. The surgeon said I was half hour from death. I woke in bed and my uncle was in the next bed recovering from appendectomy too.

I don't really remember, but be grateful you don't suffer from cluster headaches.

"The pain of cluster headaches is markedly greater than in other headache conditions, including severe migraines, and experts believe that it may be the most severe pain known to medical science."

"Women with cluster headache will tell you that an attack is worse than giving birth. So you can imagine that these people give birth without anesthetic once or twice a day, for six, eight or ten weeks at a time, and then have a break."

Broken Fibula and Tibula along with a knock on the head and no pain killers for 4 .5 hrs. The knock on the head caused Epilepsy in the long run.

Gallstones here. It hurt like nothing I've ever felt before. I know what you mean about welcoming death. I even felt it through the morphine.

The pain is to let you know you need medical attention. The worst physical pain I ever had was a gall bladder attack. Worse than childbirth, by FAR!! Spiritually speaking, it was losing custody of my kids to a lying and abusive ex-husband. God bless you.

I've had mutiple stones and they can't compare to the pain I feel daily with my head and neck and noone wants to help. Or the ones who do just give meds that destroy the heart or something else instead. be glad it's over and not a daily, weekly, yearly thing like mine.

honestly? migraines. i have to take prescription injections for them. for awhile, i got them by the box load from a mail order prescription company. 2 per pack, 30 packs for a 3 month Rx supply. add that up. it was bad. that's almost 1 migraine a day, which is what i was having.

and there's no narcotics in them...so no fun, fuzzy euphoria either...just the euphoria of not wanting to die anymore.

    migraines suck. hard.

    it's better now, though.

wiped out (dirt bike) and got hit by a car...broke 13 bones. It was awful.

Some of those bones had been broken before, that added a whole new dimension to the pain.
