Absolutely. Cannot be saved just temporarily. You are either saved or you are not. Nobody can take your salvation away from you. It is a free gift from God. God is NOT an Indian giver.

    No,

"Has God indeed said...Those on the rocky soil are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no firm root; they believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away."? (Luke 8:13)

The scripture clearly teaches BOTH the sovereignty of God AND the free will of men. To deny this is irrational, and must be caused by something other than reason based on scriptural precepts.

The scriptural position is that a person who is saved can forfeit that salvation. The bible teaches those at highest risk of forfeiting their salvation are those who are newly saved, and those who continue on in known disobedience, after being born again.

The elect are those whom God chose, whom God foresaw would both trust in His Son AND who would endure or persevere in the faith given them until the end of their physical life, or the return of Jesus.

Those whose hearts are seeking the Lord with all that is in them, should have no concern about "losing" their salvation. Nor should they have any concern about forfeiting their salvation.

Salvation cannot be lost, but it can be forfeited - this is the nature of covenants in the bible. The bible no where guarantee's someone that salvation once received cannot be turned away from or forfeited by the individual that possesses it.

Receiving salvation involves man's will, and not works. Forfeiting salvation involves man's will, and not works. In the same way the Lord did not force His salvation on anyone, He neither forces anyone to remain in the covenant.

No, I think you can reject God and he respects your wishes. I look at the scriptures in Revelations, especially where it talks about who is not written in the lamb's book of life.

    From Revelations 20

12And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. 14Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

    From Revelation 21

7He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son. 8But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death."

Matthew 25:1-10 (The parable of the 10 Virgins)

Matthew 24:12-14 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

    Other passages

    Matthew 10:21-23

    Mark 13:13

    Matthew 25:31-40

    Matthew 7:21-23

21"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' 23Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'

i think of you're lacking the full factor of OSAS doctrine and what's in the back of it, i.e. love and charm. via thinking of mankind as unbiased before the Lord, you're arising with an completely distinctive concept of salvation via rigidity. OSAS potential guilt, and the want for a savior, no longer finding out on God off a menu or being rigidity-fed in case you pick the incorrect merchandise! "If no longer, then how are you able to state that a individual won't be able to lose their salvation?" it relatively is achievable provided which you do away with thoroughly guy's potential to seem to God for salvation. somebody might could carry you throughout your existence that way, and a loving Father might try this. throughout the toughest circumstances, Christians have desire. place self belief in your self, as Peter did while suggested as to stroll on the water, and you sink like a rock. "If a individual later rejects Christ as their Lord and savior, will God rigidity them to circulate to heaven?" we've a sin nature interior us. That nature might reject God in a heartbeat save for an impressive love that isn't enable us to circulate. the affection of Christ is a superb blessing and present, no longer a commodity you get to contemplate over like a labeled advert.

I used to be a Christian...I believe that once you walk away from Christianity, you can't return. It is interesting to read everyone's responses. I am surprised to know that most people here would let me in their heaven, even though I'm a confirmed atheist now.

    no. osas is not biblical.

Mt 7:21 - not everyone saying "Lord, Lord" will inherit

Mt 24:13 - those who persevere to the end will be saved

Rom 11:22 - remain in his kindness or you will be cut off

Phil 2:12 - work out your salvation in fear and trembling

1Cor 9:27 - drive body for fear of being disqualified

1Cor 10:11-12 - those thinking they are secure may fall

Gal 5:4 - separated from Christ, you've fallen from grace

2Tim 2:11-13 - must hold out to the end to reign with Christ

Hb 6:4-6 - describes sharers in Holy Spirit who then fall away

Heb 10:26-27 - if sin after receiving truth, judgment remains

That is a belief that is not widely held, but among evangelicals the Southern Baptists believe in that concept. Though it is not as simple as it sounds it is a false belief. The bible never states such a thing.

The Southern Baptists are of the Born again flavor and this simplifies their beleif system considerably. it helps one feel he needn't do any good things to find salvation.

We are a work in progess not a complete work. No one knows if he is saved until the bell tolls.

I've answered this in depth,in the past and used to believe that one who has been redeemed could throw away the gift of eternal life..After listening to a few teachings by the late Dr. Walter Martin(Kingdom of the Cults) on this subject,I have changed positions...I'll skip the long-winded explaination, this time...The short answer is:''IF genuinely saved

one can not fall from grace, unto damnation...

''They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, so that it would be shown that they all are not of us''.

Yes, I do. However, salvation is a work in progress. We will be completely saved when Jesus Christ returns for us. In other words, I am being saved but it isn't complete.

Yes, I do. I have even written a paper on the subject from a biblical standpoint. There are, however, passages that many Christians that I respect use to say that one can lose one's salvation.

Here's the basic idea presented in Romans: We never deserved salvation to begin with. All of us deserve to burn in hell forever. That's truth, unfortunately. So... God gave us the free gift of salvation from sin and hell through His Son, Jesus Christ. It is through faith in His Son that we obtain His free salvation. Now... if we never deserved salvation in the first place, how can we suddenly "undeserve" it later? That doesn't make sense. If I've been pardoned from murder to begin with, why would He throw me out of heaven because I did something bad? Does that make any sense? It doesn't.

Furthermore, Jesus said that NO ONE could snatch us from His hand. That NO ONE includes us. Not even we ourselves can snatch ourselves out of His hand.

He also said He will NEVER leave us or forsake us. In the Greek, that is like a triple negative. If it were expressed in English, a triple negative would negate the meaning, but in Greek negatives are used to emphasize a certain point. A literal translation of this verse would be this: "I will never, no never, not ever, leave you or forsake you." Jesus said that. If He didn't mean it, why would He say it?

Furthermore, in Ephesians it talks about how we are IN CHRIST. In other words, we are inseparably connected with Him. We have the Holy Spirit placed in us as a guarantee for the "day of redemption" (the day we will see Him in heaven). We are in a sense PART OF CHRIST. As one woman finely pointed out, "I cannot be plucked out of His hand, because I am one of His fingers."

God is so faithful to us. He is faithful to us, even when we are not faithful to Him.

If you want references for all this, just let me know and I'll pass them along to you. But this is off the top of my head right now.
