to all the 80's rock listeners?
after van halen and david lee roth parted ways, VH had a very public search for a new singer. for some reason I have always wondered if stephen pearcy of ratt would have been a good fit. anybody else think this could have worked out.

I like Pearcy but I dont think that would have worked for too long. I thought the best one to replace DLR was Marc Torien of the Bulletboys. Ted Templeman produced both bands and Marc even resembled DLR and had the same'ish type stage mannerisms and surrrrrrrre did sound like him alot.

well he has a great voice but van halen isn't just vh without roth! i mean sure he's a doucheee and has an ego problem but he was always the best fit. nothing against hagar i just have always preferred dlr and hagar as a solo artist. now i love pearcy and ratt he's sooo kickasss but not for vh.

As far as Van Halen goes, really I am stubborn in my ways and really think that Diamond Dave was the only lead singer that could really have worked in the band.
I didn't like the Sammy Hagar era to be honest and I don't think I would be overly accepting of anyone other than David. As far as Stephen Pearcy goes, I think it would have been a bit mismatched.

Pearcy did have a great voice, but I don't feel like it would've been a good fit. VH requires something a little more powerful than that. A voice with a bottom-end if you will.

I can't imagine him with Van Halen. I liked both versions of Van Halen, I just looked at them as a completely different band. They had a lot of success with Hagar.

Well it might have worked out OK...but I think VH was trying to stay with the blonde hair type for the lead singer and that's why they chose Sammy Hagar, and I think he did a great job as the lead.
