Does health insurance cover pre existing pregnancies?

I found out almost two months ago that I am pregnant and I am looking for a job after being laid off from a previous one. If I take health insurance would the insurance cover my pregnancy ?

If you get a new job that comes with group health insurance benefits, then they CANNOT consider your pregnancy as pre-existing. (Note - that ONLY applies to group health insurance through an employer. Its part of the HIPAA law.)

You will not be able to purchase your own private insurance policy to cover this pregnancy. They can and will consider it to be pre-existing. (If they'll even allow you to purchase an insurance policy at all.)

If a woman is already pregnant and has no insurance, she has 3 options:

    1) Get group health insurance coverage through an employer

    2) Qualify for Medicaid (or whatever the government insurance program is called in your state)

    3) Save money and pay for it out of pocket.

About the only way you will be able to get coverage for a pre-existing condition is if you were covered by insurance under your previous job and you have elected to take COBRA coverage to avoid a break in coverage. If you weren't covered under your previous job, then you will find that most policies exclude pre-existing conditions such as pregnancy (this is done to avoid people taking coverage just for the condition and then once cured, they drop coverage, so the insurance company eats the bill).

Health Insurance companies today have policies that are with or without "Maternity" coverage. I don't believe that pregnancy is now considered a "previous condition". You can check out this website and get quotes to your specific needs and call them with any further questions you might have about it. I'm sure they will advise you on how to proceed with getting the right insurance and what will be covered.

GROUP health insurance does not exclude pregnancies as preexisting conditions.

    Individual health insurance policies do.

So if you got COBRA coverage, it would be covered, or if you find another job with benefits, it will be covered. But it's too late to find private insurance to cover this.

i grew to become into pregnant when I have been given a job, after ninety days, when I have been given to affix for the coverage, I had to ask if being pregnant grew to become into seen a pre present difficulty. BCBS of FL did no longer evaluate it a pre present difficulty, yet i do no longer comprehend if it extremely is around the board or if it differs by employing the plan or the state you reside in. in case you're interior the early ranges i could settle for the situation. maximum in all probability you haven't any longer long gone to the well being care expert yet to substantiate it, so technically it extremely is not any longer a pre present difficulty because it has no longer been clinically determined. that's recommended to hold off on your first pass to till the coverage is in place. good success!

More than likely they won't. You could always luck out and be hired by a company with superb insurance. But most insurance companies will get out of any and everything they can, even pregnancies.
