Is this true that some houses in Alabama don´t have baths?
When I look for foreclosure houses in Alabama, I find many without a bath. Is this true?
I don´t consider of buying a house in the US as I don´t have a Green Card, but I love to have a look.
@Jen912: I sure have a life... but it happens in Germany. I asked because I was curious.

what a great question. Just because most home owners have
chosen to bring their homes "up to code" does NOT mean
that all of them have! Also, just because a property is up for sale
does not mean it EVEN MEETS code; that is why those types of
properties must have declarations "the buyer must do due diligence to
determine if this property meets code; the seller does not warrant
anything."
[same with off-street parking for homes or apartments;
most places have off street but some older ones do not]

In rural Alabama...it's quite possible. It's the poorest state in the country, and some areas - it's like stepping back in time. Bathing happens in a large movable tub. Outhouses instead of proper baths. Occasionally no indoor plumbing.

*facepalm*
you know you could always call and ask the company that is holding the foreclosure and ask. realestate companies have an issue of not putting all the information on the description of hte house. and yes houses in alabama now have indoor plumbing.

you wouldn't actually consider buying such a house would you? If those kind of houses exist, they are probably very few of them and I doubt you would be able to get a mortgage for one - you would have to pay 100% cash.
I've seen houses in cities in Pennsylvania with populations over 30,000 that still have dirt floor basements, so anything is possible

Sure, why not? Older homes with outhouses and the owners just didn't install indoor plumbing yet? Very possible.
Do the Amish have indoor toilets? I don't think so, actually. They might, and they'll just use a bucket of water to flush it down.

Their bath is probably an outhouse.
That is just truly weird, though, if there is a house out there in that has no bathroom, but, stranger things have happened. Call the agent listing the property and ask if it has a bathroom.
