Sure its possible! She needs to check her attendance policy. If the funeral is at 10pm she should be able to come in the office later that day. Many states are right to work states where you can get fired for a variety of reasons. Some states like NY have rules and regulations protecting employees.

Possible, some companies will tolerate absences for funerals, especially if the deceased is a kid or teen. The really don't have to give you time off for this. But the standard practice is for immediate family only (parents, siblings, grandparents, and steps).

Smaller family owned companies (not fast food) are usually better at giving time off for this.

If the funerals are for close relatives (immediate family, grandparents, etc) then there may be protection under FMLA. Other wise she will need to work it out with her employer to find time to make up the work or use vacation time.
