What comes to your mind when you read this?

Homosexuality transcends race. That is part of what makes it so scary to the small minded.

I have not read the headline, save what you have written...so...the headline is 'meant' to be offensive... Stating 'this' isn't about hate or Civil Rights...IT CERTAIN IS ABOUT HATRED AND CIVIL RIGHTS... Only a 'FOOL' would think otherwise... But, the second part of the headline is 'right on' homosexuality is NOT a race... I will not add credibility to the author by calling them a 'journalist' as I find it difficult enough to even call them an 'author'... I always believed professional journalists were supposed to be educated...maybe they don't have to be enlightened in Salt Lake...what a shame...and an unfortunate waste of trees and ink...

What comes to mind is, "How can someone be so ignorant?"

Being female is not a "race" either, but I'll bet women would be upset to be denied housing or legal protection for their relationships simply because they are female.

The struggle for gay rights -- as even the conservative Catechism of the Catholic Church admits -- includes the idea that people should not be discriminated against on the basis of sexual orientation.

"Race" is not the only reason that people are discriminated against.

The writer of that benighted article should try to be gay for a lifetime, and get a taste of what gay folk go through -- particularly gay folk in areas like Utah.

They are so wrong! This Country allows heterosexuality. Why not homosexuality? the newspaper is implying that one sexuality has the freedom and the other should not be considered equal and have no freedom!

Why is there more divorces than there are gay & lesbian relations? so marriage is not perfect to those who hate every thing that is not heterosexual.

How is that ignorant? It's true ... homosexuality is certainly not a race. Some gay people try to separate themselves from mainstream society as some sort of special group, but the reality is that gay people are no different than anyone else. Just because our sexual orientation is different, it doesn't mean we're different as if we're some sort of race of people. So I agree with that article (I haven't read the entire thing, but I agree with what you quoted).

Maybe if they did classify us as a race we could get our rights faster, but no, it took them way to many years to figure out blacks are people too. I would hate to think it would take that long.

I think I should be reading the article to say that I'm offended by this headline.

It tells me nothing, therefore it does not strike me as shocking...

I would be offended if it said something like, "Homosexualtiy is NOT REAL!" Or, "Homosexuality is A CHOICE!"
