Can you treat a balding, stressed cat yourself?

My cat, Princess is over 15 years old and is fixed. I'm on a pension and don't have money for my own doctors bills, let alone expensive cat treatments and therapy. Is there a home remedy that can restore my Princess's skin and hair.

Her skin is supple, smooth but looks like she has dandruff. She hides all of the time and I can only manage to bathe her once a year in palmolive with a little olive oil, she is truly hard to catch. Her skin looks better afterward, but I know that I stressed her giving her the bath.

Her hair is down to the undercoat everywhere except her face. I'm not intentionally trying to be cruel to my cat. What should I do?

Update:

I bought some pet shampoo and it gave her a rash.

Honestly... cats dont need bathes! I have had the same 6 cats for the last 7 years... 2 of them have that same problem.. but mine always goes away after awhile.. it doesnt hurt them to have very very little furr.. but mine pull their fur when they are stressed..... or it falls out sometimes when they are stressed..

You are making her stress worse by giving her a bath.. cats dont like bathes.

Just love on her and let the natural oil from your hands be on her undercoat. But give her lots and lots of attention and dont give her any more bathes.. she probably doesnt trust you as much afterwards. Because you are doing something she hates. I know your not intentionally trying to be cruel. You just want the best for her. If you must.. there is a cleaning foam you can buy at walmart that you dont have to get her wet for.. you just squirt some off into your hands and rub it on her fur.. its in the pet section... this way you arent giving her a bath.. she likes it because you are petting her at the same time and she is getting cleaned.

Rub it between your hands to get it warm, like you do when you wash your hands and then pet her with them.

    I hope this helps! :)
