How do i get myself into these situations(story)?

Question

Ok, so i went clubbing the other night and during one of the shows i met this guy named michael. He's really sweet (one of the nicest guys i think i've ever met) and we ended up talking and hanging out and swapping numbers.

Enter problem number 1: I get home and look him up, he's 30 (i would have guessed 25) and I'm 18 (he thought i was at least 23)

I was a little iffy about that, but there was more to come.

Enter problem number 2: he spent twelve years in prison for killing a guy.

He was young, and he was being attacked in a bad part of town, he had a box cutter and he did some pretty serious damage but the guy didn't really feel it and kept going, and eventually bled to death.

I've told three friends, one met him and still thinks i should give it a shot, the other two heard the story and told me to run screaming.

He's really sweet, cute, has a job and a house... I can see us getting serious because we both want the same things out of life, but I'm still nervous because of all of the problems built into the relationship....

Advice please? And I swear if anybody says 'follow your heart' I'll go apesh*t.

anyway, I would say give it a dhot. I know some people who killed a guy before, but they were being attacked... just because he took someone's life doesn't mean he is a bad person... you have to see his reason behind it. you said he was being attacked, so there fore he was defending himself... Maybe he didn't intend on the guy loosing too much blood and dieing, maybe he just wanted him to get off... But, there is that little chance that he IS psycho and that is the part you want to look out for... i would suggest, if you do decide to give it a try, taking it slowly and being cautious. He HAS to expect that at least, considering his record, and if he really is nice, he will be fine with your caution and eventually earn your trust... If he is eager to get the key to your apartment (sorry, but i am just saying) you should re consider dating him... as for the age thing, i wouldn't worry about it. My great grandfather married a woman 20 years younger than him  and they were a very happy couple. and he out lived her sadly...

Well I think maybe you should talk with him about your concerns. He may be taken aback and or offended, but if he's willing to, then there is a chance he could be worth your while. The age thing is the least of your problem. The thing you should be concerned about is he on the up and up. Follow your instincts, not your heart. One will give you a sense of caution, the other will make you confused. If you like him, great! Be careful,but not paranoid. Work it out best and mostly by keeping a line of communication open.

Honestly if it was me i would run screaming..... But at the same time what happen to him could potentially happen to anybody. That's  a tough one..... I say give him a shot just be careful, very careful.Watch for any signs of violent behavior... Good Luck and Be Safe

if you really like hm them give him a chance i mean everybody makes mistakes and its in his pass he already paid his doubt to socity and all he probably wants is to meet someone can you at least see that?

well it's not like he killed his former boyfriend, and it was self defense so maybe give him a chance?
