how to find work in glasgow.?
i am working for a construction firm in glasgow and we are struggling to find work at the moment. we do really good work and our rates are very reasonable so we can't understand why we can not get jobs. we have tried using all the different websites but never get work from them. has anyone got any other ideas on where to advertise or find work. would be most grateful for any help
i am a carpenter by trade but have been working in historical restoration for the last few years. at the moment we are looking for extensions, renovations, kitchens, bathrooms and landscaping

It's because we are in a recession at the moment, the construction trade is especially struggling, there just isn't as much work out there as it works on a supply and demand basis (as you know)
The best thing to do would be to get some leaflets printed out, and target developers directly. You need to build a solid relationship with these companies and get yourselves recognised on a face to face basis rather than the faceless medium of the internet. Or look to go smaller scale, lots of people are extending their existing properties rather than selling up and moving as it is a bad time to sell right now. Perhaps you could look to going down that route for now?
So leaflets, business cards, newspaper adverts (or ask local newsagent if they'll put your leaflets inside local paper) advertise in yellow pages and yell.com.
