How do YOU think about germans?
I´m from Germany. I saw an interesting reportage on television where they asked americans how they think that germans are. they said, that we are mostly serious whit no humor. we love rules and are law-abiding. We do not talk about our privacy and it takes a long time to chum up with us. :-)
What do you think, how are the germans really?
@asdfag, funny, in the german simpsons he is from switzerland... :-)

Well I work for a major German company in the UK, so I get to see/ speak/ deal with Germans on a daily basis.
Because of the company we get a wide range of Germans visiting, from senior managers right down to young interns.
In general they are pretty much as stated in the report, it can take a while to get to know their ways, but to be honest, as an engineer I like the way they work and think so I don't find it a problem.
I think a lot of it also has to do with the way you approach them, my wife works for the same company and she is extremely outgoing so she tends to have to push them to express themselves more, particularly in social situations, but they young ones seem to fit in well with UK social scenes and really enjoy their time here, and a large number of the interns return for another internship or even a permanent role.

Im English not American, but ive been to Germany Twice and really want to go back!
Germany was AMAZING! I went Bavaria (south east) The people there despite what most people say about germans, the people were VERY nice kind and well manned and polite!
for instance, if you looked stuck or confused (as we did trying to figure out which train to get) Lots of people would walk over to you and help you out and they all speak great English!
People smile when you made eye contacted (Unlike England :) )
There was No litter when i went to munich which was when the 850th anniversary of the city was and there was millions of people there!
There were SO many people, in the middle of the city center, i got caught up in a human traffic jam that took half a hour to get out of and moved at a snale past. It was all good though! There were no anti-social things happening anywhere! Even when Germany was playing a huge important game of football ageist some other country, there were drunk teenagers (drinking age is 16) everywhere but no violence!
The Germans are very well mannered and VERY polite and everything in there country is great! The scenery and the houses, everything!
Oh and its not true about german women being hairy! Germans look diffident to English people, they are taller and there facial features are different. All in ALL i loved Germany and wish i lived there! You are lucky you live there! :) Oh and there are lots of good looking german birds out there!! lots!!! Damnit i wish i lived there.!!!
This is what i think of Germany, i loved germany!

I lived with a woman from Germany for years. Based on this time, I find Germans have a stoic side. They aren't very emotional but they are very industrious. Actually, I'm a German Jew myself. My Papa Sigi wasn't emotional, either. Again, he was very industrious & had several business ventures.
I would love to visit Germany & tour the Audobaun (sp) as well as some of the castles. The pix I've seen of Germany are beautiful.

I'm from Croatia, I love Germany, lot of German tourists come here during summer and they're not really like that, they are usually easygoing, and about the other things they are just different, some are funny some are not, some love rules some don't, just like the rest of the world.

Hey,,
you have to be proud to be a german, it is a place where many great people and great things come from... albert einstein, max planck, michael ballack, michael schumaker, mercedes benz, porsche...........
you know what, i am from indonesia, i love germany as i love my own country...
i intend to take my master degree there, at tech. univ. munich..
actually i want to study there now, at bachelor degree.. but there is no scholarship for me, i don't have enough money to study there.
and i am an indonesian, don't you know how much i want to be a german like you??
i love germany, i love the way they live, they are so discipline, diligent, that's why germany is a great country, they can have many great people, it is very different with my country you know, here scientist, teacher are not apreciated like what they should be appreciated....
maybe other people think germans are "stiff" because of their past.. maybe because of nazy or something like that in the past..
but surely i will be proud to be a german if i were you..
i even intend to live there and marry with a german... :D

When I think of Germans I must say the first thought that comes to mind is Nazis. But of course that was along time ago but can't help it.
