Can cats get fleas in the winter? I was told fleas are dormant then. Thank you?

Dormant until they get warm or smell a blood meal (you or your cat) . You or your cat track in dormant eggs, and bingo, flea infestation.

Yes, absolutely, if your cat goes outside too there are mites out there which will be slow but still active which will attach to her fur. Once there they are more than happy to breed and annoy just as much as the better known flea.

I guess in times when houses were not maintained at the unnaturally high temperatures they are now then fleas would become dormant in cold weather - now they have a lovely warm oasis to live and replicate in!

my cats have fleas all year round don't know if the fleas are just hiding around the house or what but I use a flea comb to get rid of fleas and my cats still have them whether its summer or winter.

I Frontline my two moggies all year round just in case cos I an allergic to cat fleas. However, I started scratching earlier in the week and found some bites on my ankles so I think cos the weather has been cold and heating has been on full it has brought them out of the nooks and crannies!!

well i've heard that fleas will breed in a centrally heated house in the winter because its warm + cosy there. so i always give my cats flea treatment in the winter to prevent this

well ive had my cat 10 years we saw her scratching this week and its very cold here and we found flees on her we got them off bus yes..it must be the central heating people forget this

If they are having sex there is a high chance that it isnt fleas

not unless you have a hot house the cold sends them away

Yes...but it depends.....if you live in wooded areas yes, urban areas prolly not.
