Help with Microsoft Service Packs and Installer?
I am having trouble updating my computer. Everytime I try to install Microsoft Service Pack 2 or 3 it says Acess Denied when it is installing files. Also, when I try to install Windows Installer 3.1 I get a "Windows Installer Service Could not be Accessed" afterward. When I try to start it I have a 997 "Overlapped I/O operation".I think there is a conflict somehow. I've tried reregistering it, but I get "An event was unable to invoke any of the subscribers". I've tried EVERYTHING I can think of to fix this problem. HELP!
Um, I still can't fix this. I've done all the stuff off the Microsoft website. Do I have to reinstall my complete operating system?

Follow the link below. I am hoping that you are computer savvy enough to follow the instructions. I had fixed this many times before. I would try step 1 but I most of the time skip to step 2.
