why do you never see a politician with a moustache?

but generally there are so few politicians who grow a moustache, and i just wondered why.

Because its prerequisite now for them to look as young as humanly possible. Not that that should matter.

One of my favourite politicians of all time Enoch Powell had a moustache, he was the youngest Brigadier in the history of the British Army, and had the 'balls' as James M mentioned, it was a tragedy that the wet lettuce Heath prevented him becoming PM, and sacked him out of spite for making the most honest speach of recent political history.

They're out of style. Moustaches haven't been allowed by "exclusive" people since the '70s.

Its not in style now, when it was they all had mustaches, as when beards were popular they all had beards. We don't often think of it, but mens facial hair is style influenced.
