if you talk to god it is called praying, if god talks to you it is schizophrenia, why is that?
well question is obvious of course, but if there is a god and he wanted us all to believe, wouldn't he show himself to all of us? not just to one random nut here and there who most people already thought was crazy (good example is book of mormon, another is jehovas witnesses)
gotta get at least 1 star for that :o)

It is only called praying if someone talks to God in the right context. So, if you're in a church prayer group it is ok to talk to God but even in some churches, 'talking' to God is only acceptable if it is done in the conventional way, usually as part of an organised prayer or service. If I, for example, walked into a church whilst talking out loud to God, I can be sure that all of the so-called 'Christians' in there who 'talk' to God in prayer would consider me mad, as would many men and women of the cloth. It is a sad indictment of our society that one cannot have a normal conversation with God except in controlled human circumstances, making one feel like a rat stuck in a laboratory.
For the second part of your question, unfortunately many truely crazy people, such as real religious nuts who go onto found weird cults and stuff, do claim to hear the voice of God and are believed by others, who for whatever reason, need to believe them. These people who claim to hear God in this way are usually liars, or just plain mad. The voice of 'God' in these people seems to always lead them into having strange sexual relationships with others usually less powerful than themselves, is used as a justification to gain great wealth or to lead others into hurtful situations, like the crazy Waco guy who led his followers to commit suicide. However, the true voice of God is not something to be used for personal gain or glory, as many religious zealots do use it for, but is more like having a comforting friend by your side. And as the real God is actually a spirit, then you can't see him, so I don't mind translating that to 'imaginary friend' because I am the only one who experiences it. Accusations of schizophrenia usually come from those brainwashed into believing that all of the mind's phenomenon not considered appropriate by modern-day humans can be explained by the 'medical model' of disease and its treatment or from other 'religious' people who actually have no religious side to them whatsoever, apart from going to church to meet their friends on a Sunday; or even from unbelievers so hostile to God that talking of him in anyway whatsoever whilst remaining civilised is a huge trial.
And, God has shown himself to all of us, in the person of Jesus. If we know the real Jesus we see the face of God. Unfortunately there are many charlatans, liars and deceivers out there, as well as many mixed-up people and irreligious religiouses. They all contribute to making those of us who are genuinely Christian victims of misrepresentation and mockery. But then, as was Christ.

Even the Prophets haven't seen our God, but some of them did talk to him, and all of them did see the angels.
For normal humans like us to believe, this was through the miracles that the prophets shown, as there are no miracles nowadays, so the people are in a big debate about the belief, but the ones who'll do the big effort and reach the right path will have a bigger reward than the people who have seen the miracles.
That's how our god wanted it for us, whether the people denied him or believed.
When you talk to god it's praying, and when he talks to you it's also praying, as when you read his words it's as if he's talking to you, and it is praying.
The meaning of praying is to have a contact with God.

You have a very negative attitude. Yes, we can and do sincerely pray to the LORD God for help in times of difficulties, to thank Him for all our blessings, to ask for guidance. However, we receive that help and guidance if we are patient and trusting. We are not expecting some dramatic voice from heaven.
The LORD God did deal much more directly with men and women and example of this would be Samuel in the Temple who heard the voice of God calling him. You will see those verses further down.
John 1
18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared [him].
1 Corinthians 2
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
1 John 4
12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
1 John 4
20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
Luke 3
21 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,
22 And the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.
The genuine voice of God or His angel has nothing to do with Schizophrenia.
Schizophrenia is an abnormality of the mind that can be helped with drugs. It may also be that one or more of the cases that Jesus saw who needed his help might have had that very complaint. So, it is not a matter for sarcasm but for genuine compassion.
Quelle(n): 1 Samuel 3 3 And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God [was], and Samuel was laid down [to sleep]; 4 That the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here [am] I. 6 And the LORD called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here [am] I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again. 7 Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD yet revealed unto him. 8 And the LORD called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here [am] I; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that the LORD had called the child. 9 Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place. 10 And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth. - vor 5 Jahren
In my opinion it's because god doesn't talk to all of us, he just answers most of our prayers but not when we want it done. Because god has to spoken to us directly in person like with Moses (mabey not in person but it was God) we assume he/she is crazy because there is no way god as spoken to him/her and not me. It could be a delusion and possibly Schizophrenia but some people just say right off the bat that they are Schizoaffective without having any history of the person or any understanding of the requirements and such, perhaps the person is high or on medication, who knows.

God does talk to people. Prayer is a conversation. He may not speak to all in the same way, but He speaks to all. Some choose not to listen. I answer this question the same way each time it is asked (if I see it). Do you know what they can it when someone does the same thing the same way that it has always been done but expects different results?
BTW, you might want to study schizophrenia before you try this question again. You would find that you would no longer insult people with schizophrenia that way.

Take a guess.
The bible says God does not talk to people like in ancient times.
It is hard to judge, maybe from what is said or from mens actions it is easy for some who experienced to tell.
Clues could be, things said are recogniseable in other MENTAL HEALTH CASES.
Or maybe you are trusting in anything you hear without taking responsibility, maybe you ar enot making the effort, maybe God is good and YOUR USING EVIL.

God talks to us 24/7, hearing him is the hard part.

God does not exist. Expecting a non-existent, imaginary friend to talk is far worse a disorder than schizophrenia.

it's not schizophrenia....we all have a conscious..if that's the case we are all schizos.
