Three Part Question For Pro-Life People Who Feel Adoption is the Answer?
1. Have you personally ever adopted a child? Please do not tell me about what your friends or relatives have done but only answer yes if YOU have adopted.
2. If you answered yes, was the baby a minority or unhealthy child born in the US?
3. Based on the high number of unwanted minority and disabled kids unable to get adopted, do you have an answer as to what to do with all the additional unwanted children banning abortion would create in addition to the tons sitting around?
Please don't (although i know you will anyway) give me the standard "don't have sex" lines because the church has been trying that for 2000 years without success and does not give an answer as to what to do with the babies once they are here. Prior to abortion being legal it did not work and still doesn't always work in even the most religious and conservative homes (ask Sarah Palin). I would appreciate someone with a viable or at least theoretical solution and not religious rhetoric or racist comments.
My intent is not to build a platform for pro-choice. I sincerely was interested in answers. Yes, I am pro-choice and anyone interested as to why, feel free to message me. I was just reaching my hand across the aisle to see if someone has answers. For those of you not giving answers but re-affirming you are pro-life, thanks for nothing. I do appreciate those trying to answer. I'll tell you right now, I am not awarding "best answer" to the one that sounds most pro-choice because that is not my intent. I was curious if anyone had ideas. NOBODY is pro abortion. I wish we lived in a society where banning abortion was practical
phoebe- nice strawman argument, but putting ideas into my mouth is not even close to giving an answer. If you can't answer, what I feel were three simple and fair questions, just skip it.

It is not very easy to adopt a baby unfortunately. My husband and I are in our late 20's and have been unsuccessful thus far in attempts to adopt. We have said on applications that disabled and special needs children are more than welcome in our family. You have to basically sign your life over and a check for $10,000. it is unfortunate. I do feel some guilt in saying to someone that adoption is the answer since I know these children will have to hope to be matched with a family before they are born to prevent them for having to wait and hope to be adopted. I do however wish that people would consider adoption, since there are people like my husband and I who would love to have a child and can't. I do wish people would not have abortions unless it was a child conceived in rape or incest, however I do understand the point you raise.

1. I've never adopted a child.
2. N/A
3. Foster homes, orphanages, etc.
I don't think anybody should be killed just because they are unwanted, inconvenient, or have a hard life ahead of them. It's too easy to think of young children in those circumstances, and even the most avid pro-choice advocates wouldn't condone that. The issue is whether the unborn are people just like the rest of us. If they are, then unwantedness is no justification for abortion anymore than unwantedness is justification for killing those who are already born.

I suppose you have built a platform for "pro-choice". After all isn't it better to kill the child before it is born than to let it be born and allow it to live a life most of society would deem unfit.
I suppose an abortion would appear a more acceptable choice than the one Hitler and his followers chose. All mentally or physically deficient individuals in Germany were exterminated.
So I suppose your argument would be, that the mentally and physically deficient individuals should be killed before birth instead of after.
My question to you is: Who is next?
Is it your sweet little grandmother. Should we kill her because she is no longer a productive citizen?
Is it your paralyzed cousin, who was in a car wreck when he was sixteen. His life is miserable. Let's do him a favor and end it for him.
Is it you? What if you are next.
We have a down syndrome baby girl, in our family. She was adopted and so was her older autistic brother. They are happy and in their own way, they contribute.
