Recession Christmas in a Year with Record Inflation?

If you get anything goood please pass it on. Christmas will be tough this year especially since my wife isn't working. Just do something small ....................draw names and set a limit on the amount spent for a gift. 12 and 15 yr olds can understand. It's about being together.........spend quality time with the family.

I agree with the family day idea.

I got fed up with spending a fortune every christmas, and stopped doing so two years ago.

The spending spiralling was mainly down to my older sister has four kids, and would issue a list to every family member asking for £50 worth of present from each person for each child. Not a bad haul if you think about it.

We started having a traditional xmas - I dont mean going to the extreme of apples and oranges :-) But of finding out small keener priced items that you know people really want. And getting a couple of board games to enjoy the day.

Ive been saving myself a fortune since then - and as a family we really enjoy the day. Personally Im less stressed (not setting up tons of silly presents that will only be played with for a month)

Make it a family game day, pull out all the board games, cards, dominoes etc..make up new games. enjoy each others company. Go to the dollar store and buy cute little things for prizes if you wish for who ever wins the games.

Have pop corn, soda, candy and just have a lot of fun with one another.
