There is no external evidence that anything in the Book of Mormon happened. Faith needs to reflect reality. Therefore, it needs to be thrown out.

Joseph Smith is a false prophet - his prophesies did not come true. Therefore, his writing should be thrown out.

The Bible has external evidence that the events took place. It's prophesies have been fulfilled or are being fulfilled. Therefore, keep that.

    Then it would OK.

<<Since the Catholic and Mormon churches change their doctrines, isn't that proof of them being False? Like the Catholic Church says now that there is no purgatory, even though whole Cathedrals were built on the money from the church goers to get out of purgatory.>> Purgatory has always been and always will be an element of Catholic Dogma. I think you're confusing Purgatory with limbo. While the idea of limbo was "popular", limbo was never an element of Catholic Dogma. Again, due to limbo's "popularity", the Church must regularly denounce limbo as an element of Catholic Dogma. <<So, isnt that all the proof one needs to see that they are both false?>> All you've proven is confusion between limbo and Purgatory! <<Cause if they weren't false, they wouldn't be changing up their doctrines.>> Catholic Dogma has NEVER changed, and never will. <<Like Protestants, we don't change anything because we never added anything that wasn't in the Bible, as the Lord saith.>> The Bible canon that the Catholic Church uses hasn't changed since the second century; 46 OT books, 27 NT. That was the Bible until Protestants came along, some 1500 years LATER and removed seven books from the OT, among a few other drops. Therefore, it isn't that the Catholic Church has "added" anything - it's that the Protestants have DROPPED elements of the Bible. Protestants like to accuse Catholics of allegedly adding to the Bible in an effort to cover up the fact that Protestants have so obviously dropped content from the Bible. A little historical perspective goes a long way, you know.

They aren't all going to just give it up and become Jewish.

There are quite a few small bureaucratic rules that could easily be changed by the administration and that would make life more pleasant.

Allow a civil wedding with friends and family before the temple sealing, as they do in England.

Allow girls to pass the sacrament. There is nothing in the doctrine that says they can't. Allow women to hold more positions, like ward clerk. Why is it only men? Allow women to actually run the Relief Society.

Give back local control to each congregation. Let them have the activities they want. Let them raise their own funds and have some fun again.

Publish verifiable financial and membership statistics.

    Stop inciting hatred of gays.

Admit, in the face of overwhelming evidence, that the Book of Mormon is just inspired fiction, not the real history of the Americas.

I would like to hand out just as many Bibles as we do Book of Mormons. Many people today claim that they have read the Bible. They then go on to say that our church and the Book of Mormon contradict the Bible. If they had actually read the Bible they would notice that the Lds Church has the same foundation and structure as Christ' church when he was on the earth. Also they neglect to pray for truth about the Book of Mormon, when they have never even prayed about the Bible. My point is that if a lot more people would read the Bible, it would be a lot easier for them to notice the truth of The Book of Mormon and that it is another testament of Jesus Christ! Most non-mormons spend more of their time on exmormon.org rather than reading the Bible.

A complete theological overhaul beginning with stopping the lying, the revisionist history, and the manipulation of people into "pay to play" theology to get them to heaven.

I, as a Christian, would not go into any body's church and try to change a thing about it. If it is their church, I am sure it means they are attracted to their church as I am to mine.

I wouldn't really change anything . . . It is a 'hard' religion, but that's what makes it kind of unique. You have to have a lot of faith and strength to be and stay Mormon. Those who talk down about Mormon's or any christian religion, are NOT very christian themselves. Why judge people by what they believe? Why don't you worry, and practice, your own religion! Stop worrying about everybody else's. People who judge by such stupid things, are stupid themselves! (No offense to the person who posted the question! ^__^) ♥

I would not change anything about the church. It is great and i am so glad that I am member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

I have to say, most Mormons I know are in general nice, kind and loving people.

But to choose one thing to change, i would have to say the fact that they believe in "later revelations" which produced and supported the Book of Mormon. Clearly contrary to Bible teachings.

If I could choose another, it's that they are nationalistic and support the military, even though they have 'brothers and sisters' all over the world.
